Plaster Problems - ToDreamNoMore - 06-04-2004
Hey everyone,
I\'m in the process of making a costume for a convention coming up, and I\'m making a latex mask. Sadly though, everytime I try to make a plaster mold, the plaster is destroyed when I try to remove it from the sculpture. Does anyone have any advice?

Yup, you need either hemp or burlap (2 layers) in your mold after the first 3 splash coasts. You also need to make keys to separate the mold. Also, be sure there arent any \'extreme\' undercuts on the bust youre sculpting on..... Let the mold sit 24 hrs before you separate it. Demold sloooooowwwwly

Thanks a bunch. Where can I find that burlap/hemp? And do I just lay it on the plaster after a layer, then put the next layer over it? And tell me a bit about these keys you mentioned?

You can get burlap from walmart.. you can get hemp in Goaliehacks baseme..er..i mean.. at a craftstore!!
