when u put the ultra cal 30 on the sculpture and then it says to put burlap over that and apply more ultra cal.do u have to add the burlap?PLEASE HELP ME OUT! thanks.

How do i get the burlap to stay on without it sliding off the mask when im putting ultra cal over the burlap?

u do it before each caot dries and u soak burlap in the ultra cal then apply if u dont know the simple stuff i suggest u read or watch a vid otherwise u will ruin ur sculpture

1. Use a chip brush to brush on a nice half inch thickness of ultracal onto your sculpture, getting all the detail.
2. Let harden up, you will feel the heat from the mold, let cool
3. make another batch of ultracal this time it does not have to be as runny as you are going to dip burlap into the ultracal, brush on some ultracal first then start dipping & placing your burlap onto the mold, this is your second coat, the first was your detail coat.
4. You can do another layer as desired, some do a few, remember the more you do the stronger it will be but the heavier it will get.
A great video to get is Mark Alfrey\'s Molding & Casting, something like that, practice onn something else first if you are affraid to ruin your sculpture.

Mask Murderers said basically the same as me, lol... i\'m not deleting this though so you can see how our methods compare. Basically the same but i use more coats.
Ok, the others are trying to explain how you do this in coats.... here is a simplified rundown for you...
1. Spray your sculpture with Krylon Crystal Clear.
2. When dry, spray with some Krylon dulling spray.
3. use a chip brush to gently apply a first coating of Ultra Cal being careful not to trap air bubbles or press to hard with the brush.
4. Allow to dry fully.
5. Repeat step 3. a further 2 or 3 times allowing the Ultra Cal to fully dry between coats.
6. Prepare another mix of Ultra Cal and dip your burlap into it ensuring that it absorbs as much Ultra Cal as possible. Apply this burlap to all the area\'s you brushed Ultra Cal onto before. Allow this to filly dry too.
7. Add another couple of coatings of Ultra Cal allowing each coat to dry before applying the next.
That\'s basically it. You don\'t just make the mold in one session, you have to allow each coat to dry before applying the next.
As mentioned, look for Mark Alfrey or Jordu Schell dvd\'s on molding. They will show you the full procedure in a better way than can be explained here.
