Zombie Film Pre-production - Need Help! - 3pidemiC - 01-06-2007 Hey guys, As some of you may know, I just wrapped up the script for a zombie film that me and a group of friends are making. This is going to be low-budget, but I am going to personally make sure that it doesn\'t look like crap. It is called "Days End". I can send any of you the script once it has been checked over and proofread by my partner. We are planning on shooting it in spring, so right now...we need to prepare. This is pre-production stuff that I need to take care of. And that is where you guys come in! I know that at least a few of your have done something like this and know a little bit or two about special effects. So, here are some things that I am looking for:
Thanks. Zombie Film Pre-production - Need Help! - Dzsturbed - 01-06-2007 I say just do it all for real! Nothing like the real thing! But if you would like to stay away from prison and keep the cast alive, try these techniques... [*] A recipe to create realistic fake blood that is safe to consume and is not damaging to hair. - (1 pint of blood = 1 pint corn syrup, 100 drops red food coloring, 8 drops blue food coloring, 1/4 cup water, 1/4 corn starch) [*] Gunshot hit techniques. (condoms, those SMALL firecrackers, model rocket igniter. On my friend\'s film we cut up the condoms then tied them at each end with blood inside. Attached small firecracker to condom and victim set off squib with rocket igniter. No pain and great effect!) [*] Zombie makeup techniques. (Not too experienced in this field) [*] "Devastated-looking" areas (Not too experienced in this field) [*] Blood and Gore techniques. (Not too experienced in this field) [*] Zombie-feasting techniques. (Lots of latex all mangled up, stretched, ripped with your fake blood or you can go cheaper just using ripped up pieces of toilet paper with blood) [*] Anything else that you think I should know. (Have fun and stay safe) [/list] Zombie Film Pre-production - Need Help! - 3pidemiC - 01-06-2007 Thanks. Noted. Anyone else? Zombie Film Pre-production - Need Help! - Bear - 01-06-2007 drop me a pm or email and we\'ll get you hooked up. Zombie Film Pre-production - Need Help! - stainboy - 01-06-2007 Zombie feasting techniques? Try this... Fake Flesh Recipe: 2 cups Self-Raising Flour 1 cup Salt 4 teaspoons cream of tartar 2 cups water 2 Tablespoons cooking oil First boil the water, and add everything but the flour. Then add the flour slowly, over low heat. Cook until it becomes a warm doughy ball. Form this into rotting flesh slabs, and adhere them to your face with liquid latex(ideally), or fake scab mix. This stuff has been tested, and it makes great scars, gashes, and decaying flesh Zombie Film Pre-production - Need Help! - 3pidemiC - 01-06-2007 Thanks. Can it be used as human flesh to be bitten off? Zombie Film Pre-production - Need Help! - Punisher - 01-06-2007 Am I correct in remembering that a corn syrup-based fake blood can harden on clothing and ruin it if you do re-shoots? I remember Bruce Campbell mentioning this in If Chins Could Kill as something that happened during the production of Evil Dead. I think they used a lot on the clothing and it eventually hardened and the cloth actually "broke". Then again, I might remember him saying they sat the clothes next to a fireplace to dry them out. Either way, it\'s something you might watch out for. Can someone back me up on this or am I nuts? Zombie Film Pre-production - Need Help! - 3pidemiC - 01-07-2007 But wouldn\'t the corn syrup stick in your hair and screw it up? Thanks though. Anyone else? Zombie Film Pre-production - Need Help! - englundisgod - 01-09-2007 DO NOT put karo syrup based blood in your hair!!! standing in the shower for 1-2 hrs in boiling water while ripping your scapl apart trying to remove it, yes campbell did break a sleeve andyou should use water based etc just type in fake blood recipes or making fake blood etc into google there are 100\'s of sites on this subject for no money at all and cuts and putting drill bits or waht not through wherever lots of gore for opening a chest heres an old low budget screaming mad george trick not for people being ripped in half but for disemboweling your stomach - take a freezer bag anf fill with blood, dye, paint, wet dog food, anything that looks disgustin tape it to your stomach and pullit apart he used tempra poster paint like the colour and consistency in dawn of the dead (78\') use blood and stuff for edible blood that tastes delish mix honey (instead of cornsyrup) water to thin down (no dye, never put dye in your mouth) use red kool-aid packets your flavour of choice a small touch of milk because blood isnt clear its opaque it tastes great i put a ton in my mouth for our movie and whent hit or puched i spit thinned edible blood everywhere - Aaron I can answer any other questions feel free to ask Zombie Film Pre-production - Need Help! - Punisher - 01-09-2007 Ahh, karo, that was it!
