Hoping To Get Some Hockey Painting Tips - Deranged - 04-13-2007
I'm thinking about getting a Ken Tarallo blank & painting it myself, but not sure what type of paint to use. Can anyone recommend which is better - Acrylic or enamel paint? I have only ever used Enamel before & find it a pain to use especially when it time to do the washes. How thin do the washes have to be to get a good effect?Thanks.

Here\'s a good method to making a cool effect...i\'m gonna give you a very generic painting methodGet a krylon base coat. This spray can be almond or off white.I used FW inks but I doubt you can get those. Use simple acrylic paints with a thinner. After this base coat dries. Experiment with various thined out washes...brushing it on, using a sponge or a rag. Over put it on and use a rag dipped with the thinner to take it down a little. Be careful to keep the base coat there.Now you can do some sort of heavy weathering coat here. Don\'t worry if it\'s sloppy.I like to put these weathering colors in an airbrush and give it a good dusting.You can knock all this color down with the base color spray. When you put it back on lightly, it will blend all the weathering.you can then add your scratches or whatever you\'d likeUse black electrical tape to tape off the triangles. Be sure to draw the triangles out with a pencil beforehand....At the end, seal the piece with a matte or gloss clear coat.Now you\'re finished!This is a basic method mind you but a nice trick to make a good loooking hockey mask. Great for the beginner!Here\'s a part 6 done with this way. Easy and effective. At least I think....
