Shirt Weathering Help - unique devil - 08-26-2007 Ok, I got my green dickies, shirt and pants for my Part 7 Jason and I need some weathering tips to get it at least looking halfway decent. I know I rip it where I want the spats to show but how do I get that frayed edge and worn out look? Plus they are so nice and clean and whatnot. Any tips would be a great help. Thanks! Shirt Weathering Help - Rahl - 08-26-2007 Use a sharp serrated knife to make the holes and whatnot. Then take some coarse sandpaper and rub it of the edges. Also, to get the frayed look, take the shirt and put it on the edge of a wood block and use the knife that way. By cutting-ripping along the edge of the block. Then use watered down acrylics to make the stains. Here's an example of my blue shirt.<img src=\"http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d54/phantomrahl/march2007083.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /> Shirt Weathering Help - mayney - 08-26-2007 For my zombie costume last year I used a dremel, it wore it out perfectly...Id also recommend acryilc polymer, or gloss medium to give a lovely wet, drippy autodigestion look! You can mix in deff pigments for pus, bile etc.... yum. Shirt Weathering Help - GraveOctober - 08-27-2007 If you got green clothing, I suggest you first dye it a different color. I suggest you buy some navy RIT dye (liquid). Dont use too much, but it will slightly (both) darken and change the tint of the shirt to a slightly more spruce. Do not use too much thought or you will drown out the color. If you have a bench grinder, thats good to use for the sleeves and edges of the pants, and also the knees. Or just use a sander or dremel.Perma-wet will add a good effect to a part 7 costume. |
