Just Got Rubies Jason In The Mail - Eddie - 08-20-2004 Well there has been a lot of controversy over this mask lately. Too big, too small, bad paint job, good paint job, and what have you. Before this came out, everyone was so psyched because Jon Fuller had sculpted it, and now that it is released, I find that people who are getting it are let down. So I ordered the set myself, and received it today, and here is my review. First, I have to compliment Jon Fuller on the sculpture. He did a wonderful job, and I really think that it is a wonderful take on the main man. The forehead and eyes make him extremely mean looking, and the split lip, mouth, and teeth are sculpted well to match his expression. Now for the paint job. I have seen many variations in the paint job on this mask. Bright grey, dark grey, veiny, etc. Personally, I don\'t think mine is sloppy at all. The mask is a perfect shade of grey to me and the areas around the eyes are darkened, as if Jason has been sleepless for years (and for all we know, he has). The eyes are glossy and zombie like, and they are even reddened around the corners to make them look undead and enraged. The lips of the mask are a very dark grey/red shade, and the teeth are yellowed and decayed. Also, the mask is not glossy at all, like most of the masks I have seen, so I really think that all this gives me a lot of reason not to even have the mask repainted. As for the size, I don\'t know if they\'re all equal size or not, but mine is not all that big. Of course it doesn\'t fit my head exactly, and it certainly isn\'t like a second skin or anything, but it does have a piece of padding glued in the top for a better fit, and with a few trash bags stuffed in the back, it could be an alright fit for Halloween (I\'d probably be too paranoid of my Burnt Hood getting damaged to take that out). And what I have to say about the hair job: Poor. Poor poor poor. Removed the hair right after I opened the box. ![]() On to the hockey mask! No doubt this is definately one of the worst looking hockey masks I have ever seen in my life. It is very thin plastic, the holes aren\'t completely drilled. The eyes and mask itself are HUGE, and the damage job is horrible. The straps aren\'t even really riveted in place, they are stitched on the underside of the mask under the makeshift rivets that are actually part of the hockey mask itself, and the straps are crappy braided elastic. But at least it\'s a temporary thing. I hope to purchase a blank eventually to replace this crappy Hockey Mask, but for now, it will have to do. In conclusion, I find the undermask to be worth the price asked for it. It makes an excellent display piece as well as a costume addition, is very well done for a mass produced mask, and the Hockey Mask is alright for somebody who doesn\'t want to spend an X amount of money for a good one, but just make sure you put it on the undermask, unless you\'re about seven feet tall, it probably won\'t fit your head alone. Final Score Undermask - 4.6 out of 5 Hockey Mask - 0.3 out of 5 PICS COMING SOON Eddie Just Got Rubies Jason In The Mail - Jason-V - 08-20-2004 Quote:Hockey Mask - 0.3 out of 5Least you honest! Just Got Rubies Jason In The Mail - Eddie - 08-20-2004 Heh yeah. Only reason I gave it even that is because it\'s alright for a temporary display. I have to find a better Hockey Mask ASAP. Eddie Just Got Rubies Jason In The Mail - KennyD - 08-21-2004 When I saw one in person I litterly laughed when I saw that hockey mask. It\'s SOOOOO Thin and mishaped. The sculpture was great and the paint was good considering it was a mass produced mask. -KennyD |
