So What Do You Guys Think About Dead-beat Mask Makers? - Cory - 10-31-2007

Probably the worst thing about this hobby is the fact that mask makers have become completely lackadaisical about keeping their word, staying punctual, and delivering what they were commissioned to make; in particular, we have Kelly Mann and Tyler Haslett. I know these topics come and go all the time, but I think they should be allowed for an extent of time, because these same makers also use these boards for business... Not to mention, it's <b>Off Topic</b>, so moderators, please bare with me. Most people here have become accustomed to a 5+ month wait. Ok, fine. How about lack of communication? Is that still cool? Why do we tolerate a person we have paid (our hard-earned money to make a product we wanted) to simply blow us off? After we pay them, it's their priority to deliver. Life gets in the way.. So deal with it. Work around it. Would a job tolerate us not ever showing up? Ignoring phone calls? Not replying to emails? Concerning Kelly Mann...I purchased a Part 2 Jason blank from Bob at Mask Murderers, and wanted it finished (patching, painting, hairing) and foam-filled. I asked around and Kelly Mann seemed like the best choice to go with. So, I sent Kelly the money and the mask early October of '06. Well, here we are a year later. After much waiting (with lots of patience) and few emails asking the progress, I got an email in April 'apologizing for the lack of communication and promising pics soon'. So.. four months later, I got another email that said this:<!--quoteo<div class=\'quotetop\'>QUOTE</div><div class=\'quotemain\'><!--quotecCory, As I may have told you, I have begun the paintwork, after filling the many pinholes. For the last four weeks I have needed to halt all work since I was moving my shop. Now, I have to go out of town for another week on business. Your mask will take top billing when I return. You should have it within a few weeks. Thanks! Kelly<!--QuoteEnd</div><!--QuoteEEndThat was two months ago, and I've neither seen nor heard anything from him. I've even sent him three apparently ignored emails since the above email. This guy was supposed to be reliable.. so when does his good name kick into the mix?Concerning Tyler Haslett...On July 25 of this year, I purchased a Silent Hill nurse off ebay from Tyler that promised an arrival date of two weeks. Since, I've tried contacting him through emails, PMs, and I haven't heard anything back from him. The main problem here is there is has been no communication on his part, and his ebay account has been closed, leaving me with a not so great feeling.I hope this thread gets them in gear. I'm tired of excuses and I want to see some actual results before I resort to taking legal action.

I don't know about Kelly, but if you make a claim against Tyler in paypal, you'll get your mask next week. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/teehee.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":teehee:\" border=\"0\" alt=\"teehee.gif\" />

It is EXACTLY this kind of behavior that is driving me from this hobby.....and fast. Way too much of this going on and I've been taken/lied to/had/ripped off more than I can take it. I've gotten just about all the pieces I've wanted and think its about time to move on and back to my other areas of collecting....................................Larry

i won a mask from maskmurders on ebay in September and ain't got shi&t yet. he never returned my emails. so i gave him a strike so he replies that i was out of line for doing so and my mask would be sent out shortly. that was on the 15 of oct, wtf. i maybe slow sometimes but at least i keep a line of communication going between who i'm dealing with.

wow this isnt cool at all, thats why its so hard to deal outside of ebay, tho even then something may go wrong. but unfortunate to hear for it loses all the awsome collecters. but good luck to you guys

Honestly I'm to the point that, when I get my two remaining masks I have on order, I think I might just be done collecting. I used to sell stuff on eBay years ago and I always made sure to answer any e-mail I got. When you have someone's money it's just common courtesy to. That's why I always put the good deals I've had here on the board in my sig. Obviously I'm still waiting for my set from Mike, but I'm also waiting on a Risen from Monte and I've sent him a Myspace PM and e-mail in the last week and haven't gotten replies. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"ohmy.gif\" /> Monte has been great with communication since I ordered, so I'm thinking maybe it's just Halloween being his busy time.

It's stuff like this that really make people want to stop collecting and White Sider is right, only deal with the people you REALLY know and trust 100%. Death Studios, Darkside, CGP, NIGHTOWL, Twisted Toybox, just to name a few are still really great trustworthy buisnesses, thankfully. I warned you about Tyler though Cory, if I'm not mistaken he still owes Tyson over in the UK a Hoggle bust he paid for a VERY long time ago and after losing his address made no attempt at all to reach him and straighten it out. It seems too many of these up and coming artists are all scammers, not all but a lot.
