Www.twistedtoybox.net - FlugMi - 11-22-2007

For the past 7 years I have really enjoyed designing and producing Halloween masks and costumes for Twistedtoybox.net. My art and products have been popular enough that it has allowed full time work for me and being able to dedicate 100% of my life and creative energy to this. TwistedTOybox.net started out with Justin Mabry starting me sculpting in the corner of my room after learning through helping him with NIGHTOWL products for awhile. I grew from that corner of the room to a house sized studio for a few years and even the point of having a larger shop in the city with extra help working with me daily to help get products out for awhile. I scaled back after last Halloween and 2007 went back to a more comfortable studio in the back yard with myself and my wife doing a majority of the work with some extra help from friends here and there. 10 years ago I had major back surgery and knew I never was completely repaired or able to be 100% again.Ever since, I lived with constant problems here and there and have just always adjusted and done what I can to keep going. This year during the busy season I pushed myself too hard.. did too much, and kept on for too long after seriously familiar crippling pains returned. My recent MRI scan confirms that I have blown the same area of my back with the nerve being pressed against bone, again. I have been to a few different doctors, wacked physical therapy, a great chiropractor, and also have an apointment to see a surgeon soon. I am living with serious pain right now and not in good enough physical shape to continue production at the pace that I have grown with my products. Right now I am doing good to walk and get around, I cant be picking up and molds or latex buckets. In addition to doing well with my art I have made an honest name for myself and business. I am not about to ruin that by continuing to take orders while not knowing when, or IF I will be able to get to them..so www.TwistedToybox.net is currently CLOSED.The website shouldn't be completely COMPLETELY CLOSED forever... I may bring it back at some point even if it is just a photo album. Right now I just need awhile to try to heal...try to figure out which way I can go with this career... Anyone who knows me personally knows this is the LAST thing I want to do. I have worked painting masks with 3rd degree burns over half my right hand and duct taped a broken ankle so I could get to the studio and make molds. I cant work in this current shape though......and right now I cannot promise how long this will be because I dont know. Those last few of you waiting on a package from me know you will receive it within the next few weeks. I also still have a few extra finished pieces in the shop and some blanks to paint that will all most likely go to ebay under my user account Flugmi. With all of that said I'll close with a shameless plug and TOP SECRET photos of a NEW COSTUME that I did this year ! ! YIPPIE ! We completed two of these Mummy's for a haunted attraction..not really a shameless plug because I'm closed and its not going into production but I wanted to share anyway.....Chris Russellwww.TwistedToybox.net( thats Justin in the costume )in progress shot for funCLick HERE to see the youtube MUMMY costume video !!

Www.twistedtoybox.net - J.W. - 11-22-2007

Sorry to hear that bro, back pain is a very serious thing. If you keep hurting it you could end paralized in one or both legs and masks isnt worth that. I still cant feel my small toe on my left foot from my pinched nerve.

Www.twistedtoybox.net - Jason-V - 11-22-2007

I knew you had back probs, diddnt know it was this bad. Take it easy Chris, and good luck in the future.

By all means take care of yourself first Chris. I know what you're going thru as I've had back surgery and problems off and on for years. Can be a total bitch. Hopefully you'll make a full recovery and I can add some more of your work to my collection. Two of my favorites were done by none other than yourself.............................Larry

Www.twistedtoybox.net - SlasherHouse - 11-22-2007

Get yourself better Chris. If you decide to open up shop again you will still have loyal customers waiting to buy frrom you. A good name and good rep is a rarity in the mask world and you have both. Take care bro!

Very sad to hear. I know how frustrating it is as an artist to be healed back like that. I was in an accident years ago and it took a long time to get back to normal. At one point I thought I would no longer be able to be an artist because not only did I injure my back and neck but my hands as well. Now I'm practically back to normal. I hope you can bounce back soon and continue doing your art. Good luck.
