My First Sculpt - ColdBlooded Killer - 04-21-2008
A friend of mine gave me some roma clay and an armature a few months ago and I finally decided to give it a go. I've never sculpted anything before, but I've watched lots of videos on the subject. This is about 3 hours in and has been done using only my hands and fingers so far. I'm just roughing out the forms and likeness. The armature is throwing it off a bit, but I'm just really wanting to try it out. I have to admit it's looking better than I expected it to look already. If you've always wanted to give it a shot, go for it! It's a great stress reliever.<img src=\"http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b211/coldbloodedkiller/gifs/nmm81002-2.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /><img src=\"http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b211/coldbloodedkiller/gifs/nmm81001-2.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" />What do you guys think so far? Is there anything that's standing out as drasticlly off so far?

looks great to me <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":thumbsup:\" border=\"0\" alt=\"thumbsup.gif\" /> . i've heard that some people remove the ears from the armature because it can get in the way and then just sculpt some if the piece needs it . that way the head isn't so wide and bulky from sculpting over the armature ears . if that makes any sence lol mike,

Yea I'm gonna sand those ears off. I'm only sculpting the face on this one, so please just try to ignore the ears. I'm looking forward to getting some tools on it and seeing what happens.

Man, part 4 is hard as hell to sculpt. Take it from me.Just remember when you get to the mouth, that it's strongly and unrealistically stretched in both corners - even when the teeth are in. The more extreme you go on the smile and frown, the better it looks.Also, you're gonna need more clay buildup for the top of his head than you can possibly imagine... <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/woot.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":woot:\" border=\"0\" alt=\"woot.gif\" /> Cheers,Ryan

Nice see you trying it. Voorhees Part 4 must be very hard, i have trying at the moment sculpt a Myers looks of Halloween 1 and it's so hard than i expected !!! Thanks for the tip Ryan. And just so you know, I'm only doing this as a half mask, only the face. I'm not going to mold it or anything, just practicing and trying things out. I spent some more time on the forms and it's looking pretty decent. I'm off to the art store now to get some tools.Later

Ok I put a little more work into the sculpt. I'm not going for dead on likeness, but I think it's looking halfway decent so far.
