What Happened To The Good Old Days? - DrenTheLiar - 05-26-2008

I was over at the HMA and saw a Creature From the Black Lagoon costume and made me think....what happened to being afraid of just human-sized monsters? Seems like everything has to be MONSTROUS in size these days.... <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"<_<\" border=\"0\" alt=\"dry.gif\" />

The new Hulk movie are a prime example of that. Having Lou walking around kickin' ass was a hell of a lot better than some CGI monster throwing tanks and practically flying.....

Plenty of monsters from the good old days were giant...I've never noticed that being only a modern trend.

The comic book variety of the Hulk practically flew and he definately threw tanks around.....Lou was cool and all and I love that show.....but he was nothing compared to what the hulk really did in the comic.

Compare Jason in FVJ to Part 2 or Part 3....

So did <i>Godzilla</i>. <i>20 Million Miles to Earth</i> featuring the giant Ymir, was in 1957, as was The Incredible Shrinking Man, which featured a hero battling a comparatively enormous spider, and The Amazing Colossal Man. And they've been around up through the 80s (<i>Ghostbusters</i>) and beyond. I think <i>Creature from the Black Lagoon</i> must have made people hate normal sized monsters! <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"tongue.gif\" />
