Sharp Blades? - adee - 08-08-2008 Does anyone own a fred glove with real razor thin, sharpened blades? like in the actual film? Just wondered. I've never seen a glove anywhere with sharpened blades before and wondered what they were like..... Sharp Blades? - Snoballz - 08-08-2008 I'm glad the blades on my glove aren't sharp. I would have bled to death within the first 5 minutes of putting it on for the first time. The dog would have probably been in pretty bad shape as well. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"biggrin.gif\" /> Sharp Blades? - sirbrad - 08-08-2008 Yeah sharpened blades are pointless and dangerous. In the movie the blades are rubber or not sharp when around the actors. Although they can be made to look sharp with a "false edge." Sharp Blades? - monteburns - 08-08-2008 I thought somebody sharpened a glove and assaulted someone with it so eBay does not allow metal Fred gloves on their site.A member on the Robert Englund forum had a photo of a Freddy glove with real razors like Sweeney Todd. That thing could definitely do some real damage in the wrong hands. Sharp Blades? - mpetrie - 08-08-2008 Here's what a fake edging looks like: Sharp Blades? - manicmechanic - 08-08-2008 Firstly I have no clue what you mean by "sharp edge used in the movie" None of them ever used anything other then something with the utmost safety in mind.I don't think there was any one thing that made eBay stop allowing gloves on there.however years ago there was a incident involving a fan who fashioned a Freddy glove and attacked his friend in his sleep attempting to kill him..here's the post on that.http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/article...love/article.doPast all that why would anyone want a sharped edge on a glove they are wearing?<!--quoteo(post=270766:date=Aug 7 2008, 08:53 PM:name=knifegloves.com)<div class=\'quotetop\'>QUOTE(knifegloves.com @ Aug 7 2008, 08:53 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
<div class=\'quotemain\'><!--quotecHere's what a fake edging looks like:<!--QuoteEnd
<!--QuoteEEnd Sharp Blades? - johnp - 08-08-2008 The closest thing I have to sharpened blades on a glove is with my custom Numero Uno I got from Chris, which has real beveling on the tops of the blades. They are not sharp like a knife but they could cut you if you were handling them stupidly.Just to clarify: the blades on the original screen glove were converted from upside-down fillet knife blades. The sharp edges were dulled down so that the glove would be safe for handling, but you can see the beveling that remains , in shots of the glove. The (new) bottoms of the blades were sharpened for some scenes like when the glove was used to cut through things, but dulled when handled by Robert, etc. Sharp Blades? - adee - 08-08-2008 I think Manicmechanic is wrong. According to Robert, there are lots of times when sharpened blades were used on the screen glove. Not on any of the stunt gloves admittedly but I remember seeing an interview when he said the first time he put it on he cut himself as the blades were sharp. You wouldn't want it on a wearable glove, but for a pure display piece then I'd want them as sharp as possible as thats how he would have had them. You can't slash many people with blunt knives! lol Sharp Blades? - FreddysNightmare - 08-08-2008 <!--quoteo(post=270778:date=Aug 8 2008, 07:04 AM:name=john p)<div class=\'quotetop\'>QUOTE(john p @ Aug 8 2008, 07:04 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
<div class=\'quotemain\'><!--quotecThe closest thing I have to sharpened blades on a glove is with my custom Numero Uno I got from Chris, which has real beveling on the tops of the blades. You will most likely cut yourself or worse case would be the wrong kind of person getting hold of it and doing some damage. John I am loving your numero uno dude! The backplate is great and if I ever see one the same as yours then I would be willing to buy it. Nice score. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"thumbsup.gif\" /> Sharp Blades? - adee - 08-08-2008 No more dangerous than the knives in your kitchen draw, Which you are far more likely to use. Just because you have a sharp blade doesn't automatically mean you have to slash someone! Why would it get "into the wrong hands"? I'm sure your average criminal would be far more suited to a carving knife than trying to use a freddy glove. The sickos who have done that in the past sharpened their own. So long as you know you aren't going to stab anyone then there's no harm. And if you are worried you might, you'll just sharpen the ones on a glove you already own! |
