Pro Haunters - Last_of_the_Brunnen-G - 09-04-2008 I'm helping out on a local haunted house in the area this year. It's the first year they've done anyhitng, so they're trying to get together props and costumes, etc. I know some of you have worked on haunts before so I wa shoping to get info on making one successful. Anything from layouts, safety precautions, and easy scares would be helpful, so please send me any info you can. Thanks. Pro Haunters - Mutilated - 09-04-2008 Shoot Puckface a PM, he works at a haunt every year. Pro Haunters - mpetrie - 09-04-2008 I worked at one for 4 years. Had some really good rooms. One was called the "Dot Room". The walls, floor, and ceiling are painted black but have small orange, green, and blue florescent paint dots everywhere. There is 1 or 2 people in the room wearing a black robe and black spandex mask (covers the entire head) and they too have the painted dots on their costume. Then you light up the room with a blacklight and the people press up against the walls so they blend in and when people come through, they can't see them until they jump out at them.Another room we had was a room with tons of masks stuck to the walls. The masks were all painted with florescent paint and a blacklight was used again. However, behind one of the walls is a person who's holding onto one of the masks by a handle and holding it against the wall. As people walk by, the person stretches their arm out so the mask comes out from against the wall and into their face. Got lots of good reactions. Our chainsaw room (no chains, of course) was cool... there was only one entrance and on the other side of the room were three exits. Each exit is covered with a sheet. However, two of the doors just lead into a U-turn so they are forced to come back out into the room. Only the door on the far right led out of the room. However, the guy with the chainsaw would hide behind that curtain and then come flying out, chainsaw blairing, and try to scare them into the U-turn... it's hilarious to chase the people in there and see their reaction when they realize they have to go back out into the room again.... where we would then have a second guy with a chainsaw ready to meet them. LOL!Hope that gives some ideas. We improve every year, and for the past couple of years we've been ranked one of the top (if not # 1) in Nashville.I can let you know everything you will more than likely need to pass codes as well as who makes the best animitronics and props. Just shoot me a PM if you need some help. You may also want to look into joining hauntworlds forum, lots of great haunt info there |
