Mask Painting Questions - SideshowFreak - 10-22-2008 I recently purchased a blank mask that i would like to paint but i'm not sure as to what types of paint i'm supposed to use. I'm assuming its acrylic. If so can i use acrylic from say A.C Moore or Michael's or other local craft stores or is there something better? Also can you spray acrylic paint through a airbrush or should you just use specific airbrush paint? I do not have a airbrush yet but will be buying one soon,im using brushes at the moment . Also what do i use to get that shiny wet look over the eyes that you see on most masks? And last but not least what type of glue do you use for hairing? Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks-Jared Mask Painting Questions - SUCKFACE - 10-22-2008 I'm not from the USA and you guys seem to have a bigger range of stuff available there so you should be okI use a latex and acrylic paint as a base coat with most jobs and then air brush arylic in over that. I don't think you use air brush acrylic straight through the brush as it would need to be thinned out with something, never done it so won't go there.I use FW inks for my work thinned out with IPA (alcohol)most people with use a 5 min rapid set 2 part epoxy glue that you get from the hardware store for the eyes. you might need to seal them first with something so you don't smudge your paint job. For that I use plasti-kote Krystal clear, you can get it in matt , satin and gloss.Don't know what glue works best for hair mateHope that helps a bitAll the best Mask Painting Questions - mybankey - 10-22-2008 Createx airbrush paint, with or without an airbrush gun(I use a brush). For the hair, I use Craft bond all purpose elmers glue and Craft bond spray adhesive. For the eyes, just what suckface said, 5 min. epoxy.I hope this helps,Tom Mask Painting Questions - SideshowFreak - 10-22-2008 Thanks guys really appreciate the help! |
