Damned if you do, damned if you don't, so to speak. I live and breath for my wife, so the choice would be quite simple for me. Wherever she is, I know that I will be happy. In respect to the school thing, can't you take classes online from pretty much any college in the country now and not have to pay out of state tuition? If that is the case, then that may be an option to look into. Missing your relatives and hometown just takes time to get over. Those thoughts and memories and good "vibes" are alot like that security "blanket" we all had as kids. Being at home and close to family makes you feel like nothing bad can ever happen. Trips home and visits with the family always tend to feed that craving for my wife and I. By the time our families start getting on our nerves, it's good to know we can just leave and go home. It really sounds like there are many more pro's than con's in your comparison of California and Michigan, with California being dominant. The whole fakeness and cliche-ness is gonna be everywhere you go that you do not know people. Ya just gotta look for people like you and your girlfriend to associate with. Over time, you will find those people. I know I really haven't helped a lot with your whole situation, but hopefully I gave you a little insight....take care,Tommy I Need Some Advice. Please Read. Thanks. - BPRD - 11-23-2008 I sincerly mean this "STAY AWAY FROM MICHIGAN" The state is in economical ruins right now and with the impending doom of GM it will only get worse. I'll probably be jobless sometime next year as the automotive industry continues to struggle. There are also no jobs, unless you want to work for minium wage or have experience in the medical field. I can understand what your saying but my family and I are actually thinking of packing up, selling our house and leaving the state. I wish you luck on your choice but don't come back to Michigan as you'll be making a bad life choice at this time. I Need Some Advice. Please Read. Thanks. - murphdog - 11-24-2008 I completely and totally agree with the last guy!!! It would be a huge mistake to come back to Michigan at this time!! I live in Detroit and things are getting very ugly. They will get a lot worse. You have your girlfriend possibly soon fiance. She is your close family right now. Ride this storm out where you are. Your family here will understand. Hell they may leave the state themselves!!! Being away from everything you know is very hard, I know, but try to make it work there. Michigan, right now is a black hole!!!!!! coming back will only put you in limbo longer. my two cents I Need Some Advice. Please Read. Thanks. - LeatherfaceFan07 - 11-24-2008 I agree with Tommy wholeheartedly. I couldn't have said it better myself. You've already got your options weighed. You've just got to ask yourself and seriously, seriously think about it, "What will make me the happiest?" It sounds to me like your girlfriend so stay with her. If you plan on being in it for the long haul like you say you are planning to, you've got to hang in there through thick and thin you know? As far as your family goes, again I must agree with Tommy. I lived out with my fiancé for a bit. It was tough financially but I loved it. At the end of the day, I could come home from school and work and not have the family nagging me and be able to go to sleep with the person I love next to me and wake up all the same. Now I'm back home and I realize why I liked living out so much and it's just as Tommy said, the family gets on your nerves and you can go home. Now I'm stuck and it's terrible whereas before I could go visit them and then go home and be in peace. I Need Some Advice. Please Read. Thanks. - hornetsfanjc - 11-24-2008 Home is where the heart is. If your g/f is crazy about you like you are for her, then she will understand. If not, then that is being a little bit selvish. But at the same time, she could use the "selvish" excuse on you too, if you decide to move back. Sounds like your in a wedge bud. I think you guys need to sit down together have a good candid discussion about this and realize where you really need to be. Realisticly.Good Luck!Jason |
