Figured since the cat is out of the bag officially I'd try and make an official thread so it isn't all scattered across the board. **SPOILERS POSSIBLE**I checked it out at the 12:01 am. I can't say I was overly impressed but I can say it's about what I expected. I think, despite the comedy in it, it did take the franchise back to its roots of being dark which is Nispel's style anyways. As I'd read in reviews, the kills weren't all that original but at least 2 that come to mind were innovative for sure. As far as Derek goes as Jason, I give him an A+. As far as the movie goes overall I give it a 7/10. I don't like to think of it so much a remake as it was a re-imagining. King Kong (by Peter Jackson) was a remake. There's different angles you can take with the Jason character as Damian Shannon, Mark Swift, Marcus Nispel, and especially Derek did with the character of Jason himself in regards to his actions, his intellect, his mannerisms, etc. As far as the story goes I like where it "ended". Otherwise it was your typical storyline with darker style cinematograhpy.

I loved it, my girlfriend was scared shitless, the audience LOVED it, they clapped during each scene, and cheered at the end, so everyone loved it, as far as jason goes, Derek mears nailed the role, he really knows what he is doing, the kills were great, and i know that we can expect a ton more when the unrated dvd comes out, stupid theatrical cut.. i give this movie a 9/10, i think its one of my favorite friday films, just because it had actually decent acting, and the scare factor was really highi hope everyone else enjoys this, im gonna go see it tommorrow, i sat too close, so i missed some of the action when it got intense

I will give you that and I forgot to mention it that it did have the best acting of all the films. Definitely one of my favorites as well if not the favorite. If Buechler didn't do such a kick ass job on the Part 7 look and Nispel had shown us more of Jason's face (which, like Capnvlad, I'm holding out for tons more on the Blu-Ray release. Can't wait for it!), this would have bumped Part 7 to the number 2 spot.

I enjoyed it for the most part. A lot of machete kills that were kind of "meh" but whatcha gonna do? I did enjoy the sleeping bag kill and when he cleaved that guys head at the beginning. One part that really cracked me up, was when Clay told his sister to hide so she crouched in a "dark" corner. I was like, "Seriously? He's fucking Rambo with a hockey mask in this movie, and you think crouching in the shadows is going to save you?" I would give it a 7/10 overall.

Saw a midight showing of it. I gotta admit this is one of the few remakes I was actually looking foward to see and I have to say it definantly exceeded my expectations. I can't remember the last time I actually jumped in a movie let alone a movie with Jason in it. Nice to actually have Jason feel menacing for once (I know thats horrible to say but as much as I love the other F13's Jason was never very menacing to me). Admittadly most of the plot and kills were pretty predictible but then again most F13 movies are so I guess I can't really fault it too much for that. I only wish I had gone dressed up as Jason. I would have but I thought I'd look stupid if I did but when I got to the theater, there were about 5 other guys dressd as him though none of the costumes were very accurate with there 8-hole hockey masks.Overall I give it an 8/10.

I think it was great. The references to past movies, it made me jump several times, good acting, and Vlad my wife was scared shitless too. It was great, it had its flaws but it was everything I wanted and more. I can't wait to meet Mears at MM now because I really want to tell him how great of a job he did, he was perfect. I actually did go in costume, and foudn out my movie theatre won't let you in with masks on, so I walked around with my hood and Hockey Mask and looked crazier, because I looked like I was dressed up in a serial killer outfit carrying Jason's head. They also flipped when my wife tried to take pictures of me, and they made her take her mask off as well. I am going to be going again to see it tonight at a different theatre, going to try and wear my costume to that. Anyway, I loved the camera work on the chase scenes as well and the intensity several of the scenes carried. I am stoked because they did it right, and I can't wait to see it uncut. I give it a 9/10, I think they did right by the fans and the history of this franchise.

Please do not read this if you haven't seen the film...... I do not want to spoil anything for you. If you've seen it read on!Just got back from the cinema and I totally loved this film. For me all the earlier Fridays were poor and I don't like them, but this one for me is the BEST Friday the 13th. The intro was great, sack head Jason was cool, I liked how Jason gets his hockey mask. I thought the rest of the cast were really good, decent acting and remarkably they were all very likeable characters. The weed growing everywhere gave a good reason as to why people were going to camp crystal lake in the first place which was cool. The movie did not scare me or my girlfriend but that didn't matter because it was a good film. Jason looked fantastic, his best look to date and he runs everywhere which is awesome. He uses an axe, machete and various other things and he even uses a bow and arrow in one scene, how cool is that? If thats not enough Jason even sets traps all about the woods, it was sick. The only things I could say I was disapointed with is you hardly get to see his face its gone in a flash. And maybe that chinese looking dude was talking to himself a bit too much in the shed, lol. And I wanted to see what Jason eats? And what did he feed to that girl he kept prisoner? What did she eat? And the very last 20 secs of the film I was like, "really?" did they have to have him jump out of the lake like that? Maybe better to just end on the mask underwater but these are all very small gripes and did not spoil the film for me at all. I give it a well deserved 9/10.

Just saw it and I loved every minute. The story was really good, and Derek is fucking awesome as Jason.I loved the way they portrayed everything.the setting was perfect.the lighting was perfect, and I gotta say.the acting was really good, not cheesy at all, and they were very genuine and actually funny in parts. The nudity was about on par with every other friday except the chicks were much hotter.lol, and the drug use was merely weed, which I agree was a great reason for those guys to come to the woods.I would have.lololThe kills were really cool. They were not cheesy unrealistic kills like some of them in the past flicks.I loved the sleeping bag over the fire.that was great.I would have like to see some neck snaps and head squeezes though.Jason is truly a calculating killer in this flick and that is quite refreshing. The hanging scene at the end kinda paid a little homage to part 3, but I thought for sure that she was going to slice him in the head with the machete, you know for the axe cut.lolI actually liked the fact that they set up camp crystal lake as an abandoned area , as opposed to having it as a working camp.Much creepier IMO.Not much actually scares me anymore,I just get all giddy when he takes someone out.lol, but there are some scenes that make ya jump a bit.The ending was great to me, as it sets everything up perfectly for a sequel. To me this movie is not a remake.this was a whole new idea of Jason, and I could not be more pleased!!!As for my costume, I realize that besides the ear thing, my MMFX undermask matches almost perfectly, and that is just awesome!!!, so there is now no need to replace it.All in all, I loved it, and i plan to see it again in the theatre , then of course buy the uncut DVD, and watch it multiple times.lolol10 out of 10 for me.

Just saw it on my local IMAX screen. This movie rocked! A true standout "remake" in every respect. Jason was scary...menacing....and totally badass. Very respectful to the prior movies as well. I will definately pick this up on DVD.........................Larry
