A Round Of Applause For Derek Mears! *spoilers* - The Death Curse - 02-21-2009 I know this is a spin-off from at least 2 existing threads, but I just have to speak my mind about Mears' great performance. I went in to see the remake expecting a pile of feces, and instead, came out with a Joker's grin on my face. And while I acknowledge that the whole movie in general was fun (IE: there were tons of boobs, the actors and kills were great, and the FX work was really inventive), I just can't get over Mears' great Jason performance. MAN, was he good! I also saw his various little nods to previous "Jason" actors shine through on film - as he had hoped they would. Most notably:The chain choking scene and wide-open running were both totally Richard Brooker...The quick, jerky fighting movements, general anger, and head-tilt were Ted White all the way...He held himself a lot like Steve Dash's "Jason" while wearing the bag...His jump through the window was obviously modeled on Warrington Gillet...Last but certainly not least, the ending was 100% Ari Lehman! <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"biggrin.gif\" /> Honestly, I expected this film to be another "Zombieween", so needless to say that I'm flabbergasted at the Great Mountain of Awesome that IS this entire movie. But back to my original subject, ....THREE CHEERS FOR DEREK MEARS!!!Cheers,Ryan A Round Of Applause For Derek Mears! *spoilers* - GraveOctober - 02-21-2009 I agree with everything Ryan said here...Its funny because during the chain choking scene, a friend turns to me and says "richard brooker!" lol A Round Of Applause For Derek Mears! *spoilers* - mperaginejr - 02-21-2009 couldn't agree more, he did an amazing job, looking forward to seeing him top this performance in the sequel A Round Of Applause For Derek Mears! *spoilers* - gummi - 02-21-2009 I enjoyed the movie overall, and agree totally that Mears made a terrific Jason. A Round Of Applause For Derek Mears! *spoilers* - ExMortisMan - 02-21-2009 Totally agree 100%. I never thought I would see the day someone outperformed Kane Hodder as Jason. Hodder is still the man, but Mears is like a breath of fresh air for someone who is suffocating! ...I think I said that right...lololol A Round Of Applause For Derek Mears! *spoilers* - Mutilated - 02-21-2009 <!--quoteo(post=299406:date=Feb 21 2009, 04:35 AM:name=ExMortisMan)<div class=\'quotetop\'>QUOTE(ExMortisMan @ Feb 21 2009, 04:35 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
<div class=\'quotemain\'><!--quotecTotally agree 100%. A Round Of Applause For Derek Mears! *spoilers* - Horror4Ever - 02-21-2009 I also agree Mears kicked some ass playing Jason and i think he is better than Kane Hodder! not my favourite Jason as im more of a fan for the older Jasons but overall he did an awesome job. I went to see it 2 days ago with even lower expectations than I had for Zombieween, and expected to see something anger-inducing at every turn. Luckily, that was not the case. Not one thing in that film was awful or distracting enough to take me out of the "magic" of what was happening, and I had fun from beginning to end. It was all around really well-made, and I'd go see it again if I didn't want to waste another $9 at the movies! hah.I'm also going against my previous statement about the "ugly piece of crap" hockey mask...I'll definitely be buying one of my own - now that I attach Mears' great work to its visage.
