Watchmen - LeatherfaceFan07 - 03-06-2009 I don't know if I can accurately gauge how I feel about the movie. I didn't hate it by any means but at the same time I don't consider it one of my top 10 favorite films. The film was visually stunning. I just don't know if I feel as connected to the story as I'd like to. I feel like I need to see it again without the jackasses surrounding you eating the most obnoxious movie foods with plastic wrap and ruffling the whole three hours away in their bag of popcorn. I will be re-watching the motion comic to compare but I liked what Snyder did with it. Rorschach was great as was Manhattan. Some of the scenes were snatched right from the comic and looked brilliant on screen. I look forward to the Blu Ray release. Watchmen - TheChosenOne - 03-06-2009 I didn't read anything of what you wrote as I haven't seen the movie yet. I'll be watching it tonight, though, and I'll let you know what I thought about it as soon as I get back from the show. Watchmen - Willowman - 03-06-2009 Justin and I watched it last night and both of us loved it. Small differences for the most part from the comic but pretty faithful altogether. I can definitely see why people may not enjoy it as the first hour and a half may be a bit confusing or boring for some folks. But I loved it.We didn't have the same problem you did, though with people being annoying as we watched it in a private auditorium. That's the only way I can watch movies these days without killing people. Watchmen - threesixafix - 03-06-2009 Going to see it shortly. (in the early afternoon) so hopefully wont be too many people. im not happy about how long it is though.... Watchmen - thekreator - 03-06-2009 I watched last night in a private auditorium as well. Our local comic shop owner is friends with the theater management, so he's always able to score an exclusive showing for friends of the shop. Usually there's about 30 people who show up for the screenings, but this time we filled about 75% of the theater. They also had 3 other showings last night as well, and sold out the 1am and 2am start times as well. Had no idea that many people in my area would be this interested.Overall, I loved the movie. I'm a huge fan of the graphic novel, and I think they did a fantastic job of editing the story to fit together as a film. Especially liked how accurate the set design was, and that they stayed true to the color scheme of the book using subdued secondary colors. Some surprising gore in parts, and a little more nudity than I expected, but I'm so glad they went R-Rated and didn't wimp out for a PG13 cut.Really excited for the Blu-Ray release, as I believe there's a ton of footage shot that wasn't included and may be available as an extended cut. Can't wait to go see it again tonight in IMAX! <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"smile.gif\" />Oh, I also, highly recommend the newly released Watchmen Motion Comic. Brilliant conversion of the original novel's artwork to animation. I'm surprised they managed to make it under 3 hours. I hope they release a directors cut that includes all the Black Freightor and the first NIGHTOWL's biography.I'm hoping to see it this weekend, if not, early next week. Can't wait though, it looks amazing!Oh, and without spoiling it, how different is the ending from the comic? Watchmen - TheChosenOne - 03-06-2009 In short: I absolutely loved it. Great acting, fantastic action, brilliant opening titles and a near-perfect soundtrack. Too bad it was only 3 hours long... Watchmen - onefastbird95 - 03-06-2009 Just got back from the theatre... really liked the movie. Love the novel even more though. If you havn't read the novel it is well worth the time and money to check it out. I am also looking forward to the bluray release! |
