Mask Help! - JKSLYR - 04-10-2009

Hey guys, I've been lurking around for quite some time but something's come up that I need a little help on. My friend and I are applying to a school improv group, and for our tryout we're planning to do one of those 'Old guy at the Mall' type videos. She's going to be wearing the mask, so my question is whether it's better to make our own mask from scratch (cheaper, better fit, but more time) or buy a mask (faster, but more expensive, unknown fit).If anyone could take some pictures or video of a female friend or relative wearing any mask, not specifically an old one, that would be a huge help. We're more concerned about the fit of any sort of mask on a smaller head. I know this sounds kinda creepy, but I'd rather save a couple bucks if I can. Even just some info would be cool, but a video would really take the cake. Thanks!

Don't quote me here, but I believe SPFX makes their masks a bit smaller and tighter fitting than they used to. Email them to get a definite answer. But if you want the most realistic looking old man you can get, hit them up. It's worth the price tag... but may take a bit to save up.Sculpting and mask making in general is easier said than done. And it can be very costly as well.http://www.youtube.com/results?search_type...ld+man&aq=fIf you're on a serious budget, look on eBay for foam latex old man masks. They can do the trick... but aren't as realistic.

I emailed SPFX but they just said "Our masks fit all head sizes" - that was the entire email. Must be busy, lol.My friend has experience sculpting (and I'm an engineering student), so we might be able to make something reasonable. Still, we've been working on this project for a few months now and it'd be cool to get some reference pics/vids if possible.I did post on the SPFX forums a while back... but then again, different companies make differently sized masks. I'm trying to find a better fit, if possible. I know CFX does female-fit masks but they're all zombies and whatnot. Plus I'm looking for possibly cheaper options. I'm more concerned about the fit of a mask (since most are made for guys) - I don't care whether it's a Freddy Krueger or George Bush, I just need to gauge how close a mask will fit a smaller head.If anyone can help me out, it'd be fantastic! Thanks!
