Hockey Mask Killer By Twisted Toybox - EverythingJason - 05-02-2009
I first noticed the Hockey Mask Killer in a few pictures from the Horrorhound convention and I knew I had to get my hands on one. Since only a few had been produced there was very little information out on this piece and I had no idea who its creator was until I stumbled upon this very mask on eBay.Created by Chris Russell of Twisted Toybox, the Hockey Mask Killer displays a true artists rendition and own take of our beloved psychopath seeking revenge for momma.Being a huge fan of artists that create their own pieces of artwork instead of simply copying others, I knew that this would be right up my alley.I love when mask makers transform their own ideas combined with the love for horror into something as minuscule and simple as clay only to give life to their ideas a few weeks later in form of an amazing standalone piece. This is what the Hockey Mask Killer is - amazing.I haven't bought many latex masks since my run in with assorted con artists and nowadays only pick the pieces that really speak to me and speak to me this piece did. It looked great in the pictures I saw but when I opened the box and was able to hold this incredible mask in my hands it felt like a rebirth of the horror genre. For starters the Hockey Mask Killer is cast thick and flawless and the seam lines from the mold are not even noticeable.The skin as well as the mask surface is beautifully textured and Chris Russells incredible paintjob really brings it to life. The hair work is stringy, grimy and matches the essence behind this piece. This mask just screams old school horror and one would expect to see this piece as a hero mask in a dirty old Grindhouse feature showing half naked big breasted cheerleaders being chased by a sledgehammer wielding mask wearing maniac. But then again, Chris is known to produce no nonsense pieces that will bring back the feeling of horror films past, you know the good old days where your heart was pumping while you had your hands clenched tight around your bucket of popcorn.This mask captures all of that perfect and within its simplicity hides a gem that will have a true horror lovers heart pumping with joy. Thanks Chris for an awesome addition to my collection and I can not recommend this piece enough. i spoke with chris at the hh con about this peice it is an awsome mask.i love it.and agree with you on originality.i would much rather see and artist stand point of a character rather then the same thing we see everyday...great right up and awsome score...tommy

Thanks for the feedback guys. This is truly an amazing mask. I totally agree with you Creeping Death Productions. Most people wouldn't even look at standalone pieces because it's not one of the movie characters that are currently in. Those are usually the most detailed and incredible pieces though and I am looking forward to getting a brutally gory costume together for this guy.
