Up And Coming Project. - mpetrie - 08-10-2009

Hey everyone... just wanted to stir the pot a little bit and let you guys know that I am going to be creating a REAL Freddy glove using my Hero glove templates sometime soon. I have a few things in the works. Going to be using very heavy gauge copper and brass for the armature and am also getting custom-made blades made. These blades will be razor sharp and hopefully will ultimately look like the original Part 1 blades. Gonna cost me a pretty penny to get these blades made but I got in contact with a very well-known knife maker to grind and polish them for me. Of course, I will not make this to sell it but I have decided that I want to add a REAL glove to my collection. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":o\" border=\"0\" alt=\"ohmy.gif\" />

well since you're not gonna sell them you gotta compensate by posting as many pics as possible. you owe that to us! (JK but seriously... I drool over your work and some pics of this would be fantastic, thanks)

I'll post hi-res photos and also make some HD videos for you. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"Smile\" border=\"0\" alt=\"smile.gif\" /> Not sure how long it will take though... the blanks for the blades are to be cut tomorrow and I don't know how long it will take for the blade maker to grind them down. I may post progress photos here as the project moves along.

i am looking forward to see the progress photos of this razor sharp glove project in the future Mark.just be really careful with those "razor sharp" blades. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"yes.gif\" /> on my old self made part 4 the blades are really sharp as hell and i am still afraid to touch that glove so that's why it is stored in a display case for safety reasons. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"tongue.gif\" />

Then again, when he first put it on, I'm pretty sure the backplate hadn't yet been attached to the glove so you could easily completely close your hand. But I'll be attaching the backplate to the glove before I do any finger-folding. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"Smile\" border=\"0\" alt=\"smile.gif\" /> I'm used to handling Freddy gloves (though not sharp) but I'm familiar with how they move and what limitations I'll have when wearing it. But I agree... gotta always be careful with something like this.

You could use some fish knives for your gloves... I've seen some "Rapala" that's look a lot like the knifes at the very beginning of part 1... <img src=\"http://a1672.g.akamai.net/7/1672/116/20090501/www.ritzcamera.com/graphics/products/4-58/478620958.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" />

However, I've already employed a talented knife maker and am having the blades cut from special sheets of steel and then the blade maker will heat treat them, grind them, and polish them. So these are TRULY being custom made specifically for this project. Will cost me about $200 for the blades alone.

I mean I'm not sure Fred would had a knife maker making his blades. Imagine the killer feeling when you take a real knife and arrange it to be solder on a dirty piece of copper <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"tongue.gif\" /> Are you going to put your sweet fingertip weathering on this one?
