it depends
it only is if your gonna go ALL out with everything...but it aint for everyone i guess....this is what my buddy of a buddy says though...
u can save some cash and build a comp...if you put the right crap in it, it will run just as good as an alienware or a "christware".........the......holiest of computers

Alienware is definitely one of the better places to go to build a PC. They use top-notch stuff and if you have enough dough, you can take advantage of some of their proprietary tweaks that optimize performance.
However, you can buy all the same parts a computer together yourself for far less money. You just won\'t have the sweet paint job and the swanky alien head case...
I suppose if I had $3000-$5000 to blow, I\'d grab one. But otherwise I\'m content in building my own...that way I know everything that\'s under the hood

well I want the one thats about a grand. And I really need a computer for graphics and memory. I\'m bigtime into using just about anything by Adobe. Not really for gaming. This computer I have is literally crap. Its got pieces that are 5 years old and really new pieces and not much really works or is too compatable. It crashes about every 4 hours or so.

I\'m not sure if the mobo solved all your problems, Jenn, but if you are still looking at spending $1000 on a computer, I highly recommend building your own. That way you can put the bulk of the money where it counts (for graphics think RAM, processor, hard drive, and video card). A grand will get you a nice computer that will suit your needs.

At the moment I believe I\'m going to get a motherboard and a new comp in about 3 years. Actually this is what my parents said "Either you get your lasek done or you get a new computer... Or you wait."

I work in the computer industry and before I would by a package from any company I would always build my own system. That way you get exactly what you want and what you need at a price that you think is fair. You can build a fairly top notch system for under one thousand bucks easily depending on what you are using it for. The most important part is to check out different vendors and read reviews posted on known websites or magazines about the parts that you are interested in.
