Not looking to gauge how long sculpting takes, just curious how each of us are different or how some of us may be able to see size / shape relationships sooner and remedy problems faster than others. My Pinhead piece took several months put I don't know how much actual sculpting time went into it. I started a new piece the other day and am going to try to keep track this time. There are some sculptors who are so familiar with anatomy and experienced with special sculpting techniques that it can only take them 24 hours or less - if absolutely necessary - to complete a sculpted character makeup for feature film work. There's a legend about Brian Wade (which he recently confirmed as true through email) that the F13 Part 6 Jason prosthetic makeup was sculpted, molded, cast, trimmed, painted, AND flown to location in Georgia from LA within just 48 consecutive hours. That's one of the more extreme circumstances, though...Most big studio FX sculptors are given a anywhere from a few weeks to a couple months to sculpt, mold, and produce their designs.Cheers,Ryan Sculptors...how Long Does It Take You To Complete A Piece? - Mutilated - 02-12-2010 I'm a quick sculptor if I really put myself into a sculpt it can take me about 2 days. |
