What Supplies Will I Need? - Eric - 11-18-2004

With christmas right around the corner i figure it\'s just the right time for me to make my frist latex appliance, and christmas will obviously help me get the stuff i need to do it without me actualy having to spend my own money! Smile So my question is what exactly do all i need to make my first latex appliance (Freddy makeup). I figure most people here might know.

Thanks,
Eric

wow, you don\'t need to pay for it AND people are gonna give you a detailed list of what you need?

Wow, you make it seem so easy.

Try the MonsterLab forums, read as much as you can, then you\'ll have your answer on what to buy, and what to not buy.

Good luck, post pics when you\'re done.

I\'ll try to break this down for ya

1st you will need a life cast of yourself.
For this you will need alginate, plaster bandages and the stone of your choice (plaster, ultra-cal or hydro-cal... Preferably ultra-cal).
Next you will need some clay to sculpture Freddy onto your life cast.
You can make a one piece pull over but its not recommended. I would go with a cowl, forehead, nose and cheek and a bottom lip and chin.
4 pieces total. You will either need multiple molds of different areas of your face or \'float\' the pieces.
Once you\'re finished with the sculpting you will need negative molds of those pieces. If you go with a one piece you will need to key up your positive and use it as a core after making the mold.
Remember to wax and buff the stone...
Get a foam latex kit. You will need a large syringe to dispense the foam latex into your molds. Strap them up and place them in the oven per directions provided with the kit and bake them out. Once finished (if they turn out according to plan) you just need to apply with a good, medical grade adhesive like pros-aid. Mix up a small batch of PAX paint and color the pieces. I would recommend RMGP\'s or Skin Illustrator for the details and finishing touches.

There are a few odds and ends I didnt touch on here but you get the general idea.
Best of luck! Pics when finished!
