Andrew Garfield Is The New Spider-Man - Mutilated - 07-02-2010 He's a decent actor, I think he can do the role justice. Look forward to seeing what they come up with. Its Official! Andrew Garfield Is The New Spider-Man - LeatherfaceFan07 - 07-03-2010 He looks more the part than Tobey I think. I was getting bored with Tobey anyways. Here's to seeing what they come up with. When Universal rebooted Hulk, they blew Ang Lee's trash out of the water. Hope they do the same here. Its Official! Yeah...it's very unclear up until now whether or not it's indeed going to be a reboot. Sony claims they were going younger in casting so that they could reboot it and that was the reason they let Raimi and Maguire go...but whispers in LA say Sony really just wanted to dump the cast and crew because the success of the previous films allowed Maguire, Raimi, Dunst, et al to ask for tons of cash. Ergo, Sony wanted a new director and actor that they could hire "on the cheap". But now everyone is crying foul because in all honesty, Garfield doesn't really look more than perhaps one or two years younger than Maguire at this point...and many people think that means Sony merely wanted to recast and recrew so they could save money and that the decision had NOTHING to do with telling a "new" version of the story. Time will tell... Its Official! First, I never said it was a reboot but it might as well be. New cast, new director, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if we see some of the same villains and from what I understand they are taking Pete back to high school (leaning more towards Ultimate Spider-man) and in the current trilogy he is in college. I guess calling Hulk a reboot is technically incorrect it's just that Universal made Ang Lee's movie a footnote in the opening credits, which is probably what Sony will do if indeed they acknowledge Raimi's films at all in the new one. Second, no I don't think the Raimi ones are trash. 1 and 2 are great; love 'em. That being said, 3 wasn't so great. I just think something needed to be done in order to fix the path it was taking. Are Sony's actions the right path? Maybe not, but I'm willing to give it a chance just based on what Universal did with the second Hulk that's all I was saying. |
