i got john carpenters autograph over the weekend on a glossy photo. it seems the silver ink will not dry and smears if i touch it. for the most part it is not ruined yet (slight smearing) but i want to dry it out before i frame it. any suggestions on what to do? is my best bet a clear coat on top of it? any help would be appreciated, thank you.

It will dry ... be patient. Don't give it the finger test, you will only smear and ruin the signature.
I suggest putting the signature somewhere safe, on top of a book shelf. Forget about it for a week or two. It should be dried by then.

thanks for the response, i will give it a couple weeks. any suggestions if it does not dry in that time period? and any ideas what i should be testing it with since my finger keeps smearing it?
