Part 7 Black Abs Run - crazydog500 - 02-23-2012

Hey Guys, I got a lot of PM\'s from different members asking about my Part 7 blank, and had people asking me to do a run of blanks and sell them to some of the members on here. I said maybe not sure because i want abs ones not resin or anything else. So i talked to Ken over at Frightstuff and he is doing the pulling for me in 0.60 Black abs plastic which is pretty thin and should get most of the detail. I\'m only taking 4 orders as of right now because the first 2 were called for. He only has enough to do 4 pulls since that is all the plastic he has left until he orders more. These\'s won\'t be limited but will do blanks once in a while once Ken has enough time to pull more of them. I should get my blanks by Tuesday and will ship them out the next day once i get your orders in. For 1 blank they are $125 shipped since seems fair and not to overpriced since i have to pay Ken for the materials and his labor then they come to me which i ship out to you. If you would like one just send me a PM, you are limited to 1 as of right now since i want a few people to have one.
Thanks

Very cool, I wonder how they are going to pull in abs. Lookin forward to seeing them.

Sounds cool. The vacuum formed copies won\'t be able to pick up all detail, but I\'m curious to see how it comes out! Keep us posted...

Only most of it. I know that it will show but you will have to make them deep enough once you get it, more like a guide of most of the markings.

Here is the first copy. Came out pretty good the only thing is the dots on the side aren\'t there. But overall not bad for a abs copy, i will not be selling these\'s though since the abs is stuck to the resin lol and trying to pull it off now. I guess going over it with plastic didn\'t work, so a actual mold has to be made off of it. I will have some resin copy\'s later on instead since that would get most of the detail and be easier. It was a good try though, and one member said it be a good idea to do some sort of resin instead.

I tried telling you forming directly over the blank would be bad news lol. I\'m surprised a pro like Ken didn\'t think it out a bit better.

Part 7 Black Abs Run - crazydog500 - 03-03-2012

Well a lot of people told me it could work so i told him to try that. I did manage to get the blank off lol

Part 7 Black Abs Run - The Death Curse - 03-03-2012

Who told you that would work? Whoever it was, they obviously know NOTHING about vacuum-forming or the importance of filling undercuts. Wow...

Yeah. Like I said, make a silicone mold and use a highly flexible resin to pull multi-layered, reasonably thin replicas - *IF* you have enough people seriously interested to fund the project, which I seriously doubt. If you don\'t or can\'t solicit an acceptable amount of interest, then I probably wouldn\'t even bother.

Good luck figuring it out!

Ryan

I had at least 3 people tell me if it\'s hard and sturdy then it should work. I don\'t know much about mold making so i just said ok i will try that and took there ideas.
I wouldn\'t worry about having people help fund project since i will do this on my own time. And sell them as is each blank, that would be later on though.

I would back/support it with foam and clay, then make a silicone mold. Use a pourable plastic. I, personally, don\'t want any more resin hockey masks. Love the durability and flexibility of plastic. Resin\'s just TOO fragile!
