Curtains (1983) "old Hag" Mask - Best Repro Version? Original's Origin? - Hideous Looking Man - 09-09-2012 Hey gang, Forgive me if this is repeating a past topic or what have you but I\'m looking for some help on something. I\'m a HUGE fan of the underrated \'83 slasher Curtains and have always wanted a nice replica, if not even an original specimen, of the infamous "old hag" mask seen in the film. I\'ve looked around and found very little info about the original screen-used mask. Does anyone know who produced it back in the day and what the actual mask itself was called? Has anyone ever seen one in person? Or better yet, does anyone here actually OWN one (or know of someone who does)? I\'ve seen a couple of decent replicas out there, most notably the version still offered by Darkside Studio here: http://www.dssmasks.com/page5.html It\'s not too bad, but honestly lacks the vital "oomph" of the one in the film, which is just immeasurably eerie and creepy down to the super-wrinkly skin and longer, surrealistic hair freakily flowing off of it. I REALLY want one that looks like THAT. Anyway, again - I apologize if this has been discussed before as I\'m sure it probably has. I\'m just really into this flick and want a worthy display piece that I can be proud - and properly TERRIFIED lol - of. Any help is much appreciated! Curtains (1983) "old Hag" Mask - Best Repro Version? Original's Origin? - frosty - 09-09-2012 you know i\'ve never seen this movie, wonder if its out there somewhere, don\'t know anything about the mask sorry, looks like an interesting piece though, you know i like the obscure stuff Curtains (1983) "old Hag" Mask - Best Repro Version? Original's Origin? - Hideous Looking Man - 09-10-2012 It\'s definitely worth checking out man. It\'s still pretty obscure thanks to mainly only seeing the light of day on VHS years back, but it\'s also gotten a crappy DVD release here in one of those abysmal "multipack" Echo Bridge DVD sets, as well as numerous bootlegs floating around out there. The EB DVD is so poor looking that I prefer watching the old VHS tape since it actually looks better LOL! It\'s ridiculous that this film has never gotten a proper remastered special edition release since it\'s got a fairly devoted cult following now. Still hoping someone picks that project up eventually and runs with it. Such an amazingly creepy and atmospheric slasher with a great ending, and one infamously eerie and over the top scene involving ice skating! |
