Most mask makers use .90 plastic for their masks. I only know of like 1 or 2 other people besides me who think that is too thin. .90 is more movie accurate, but it\'s not accuare to an actual hockey mask. Plus wasn\'t the mask in the movies meant to look like it was made of fiberglass, which would be thicker than 1/16". And when holding a .90 thick Hockey Mask, it feel slike it could break easily. Now, I\'m not about to go out and start my own murder spree, but I think a mask that was both painted accurately and functional would be cool. I\'d feel a little better about wearing it at Halloween. To those of you who like .90, why do you not like .125? And this is not a personal attack or critisism of anyone else\'s opinion. Just curious.

yea alot of mask makers do make hockey masks out of .90 abs plastic. when i first recieved my very first Hockey Mask i was like wow that\'s thin but believe me they can with stand alot. plus the Hockey Mask isn\'t meant for playing hockey or protecting your face. i really dont know of any one that makes .125 hockey masks though?

When doing abs, you are using the positive mold (obviously) but when using the negative mold you can use a two-part plastic. Some use resin, some use fiberglass. In the end, its really all the same thing imo. My first hockey masks were resin, and I really like the feel of resin. Very thick, and feels like a real hockey mask.
However, the downside to resin hockey masks (which both Spaz and Mike know) is that they can break very easily if not taken care of. That is why most makers use abs nowadays, its more accurate ofcourse, but its also more reliable.
(If Im wrong about any of this, let me know dudes. I like to learn new things, its all a part of the hobby to me)

Hockey masks in the movies were made of .60, much thinner. Your Hockey Mask may feel thin but it can take more impact and more flex than a resin. Drop one of spaz\'s hockey masks on a concrete floor and you\'ll be displaying some nice weathered shards, drop an abs Hockey Mask and it\'ll damn near bounce.

Well, like I said, I wouldn\'t be going out and usingit for anything beyond a costume accessory. I too have a .90 Hockey Mask, but it personally feels too thin to me. I don\'t even really want to handle it because of that. I guess it just comes down to a mental association of thin = weaker. You know? But yeah, the .90 is pretty tough for it\'s gauage. I wish there were thicker ones available.

Ok, if you have a .90 Hockey Mask, look at it carefully. Then look at the part 7 Hockey Mask at the very end of the film. (When the firefighter picks it up, adn you see that it hs been split)
You will then realize that even though the Hockey Mask is thin, it isnt nearly as thin as the movie thickness lol

Just ask a Hockey Mask maker if he can make yours with a thicker guage.

well there is a fine line betweem too thin and too thick, .90 is right in the middle of them i think and i like em like that. it really is just the mentality of it though, u just feel like it can break but i don\'t think it can unless you take a hack saw to it!
