I Need A Custom Facial Prosthetic Made. - Jason Fan - 05-08-2004 Recently, I had the idea of having someone make me a Michael Jackson prosthetic facial appliance. My idea is to wear it around the neighborhood and ask my neighbors for a baby-sitting job to pay for the court case. Who has the best price and quality for what I\'m looking for? Thanks, Jason Fan (and yes I am THAT weird.) I Need A Custom Facial Prosthetic Made. - SuperDanDrista - 05-08-2004 It\'s not really that simple bro. You can\'t just have one made. You need to get your face lifecasted and have a pro sculpture the features and bake themm in foam latex. Then they need to be applied over a couple hours. It\'s not the same as going out and buying a mask D PS..the process is far more complicated than I described I Need A Custom Facial Prosthetic Made. - Jason Fan - 05-08-2004 Oh. I didn\'t know that. But what about the ones I saw at DMC and at halloween stores? Also latex is hollow and foam latex is not, as in the foam latex appliance would be solid and have a negative imprint of your features on the inside so it will fit you perfectly. I probably didn\'t word that right but hey its saturday night I Need A Custom Facial Prosthetic Made. - ZombieBloodLust - 05-09-2004 yeah latex appliances are only good for bullet hits and injury effects, and as long as you are not going to be wearing it for long its fine, what you seem to want will need to be made with foalm latex, it sticks much better and breathes unlike plain latex. in order for you to have one that would be worth the effort, you will need a life cast and you will need ot to be sculpted to match. this will ofcourse cost you quite abit in matereals and the like....i say funny idea, but unless you know a shop ot know how to cool foam latex then id say tough luck! i am a makeup artist so i know a thing ot two trust me :-) I Need A Custom Facial Prosthetic Made. - Dead*meaT - 05-09-2004 y not just get that creepy micheal jackson mask??? far cheaper and better looking. I Need A Custom Facial Prosthetic Made. - Jason Fan - 05-09-2004 I guess so. I wanted my mouth to be able to move though. Thanks guys. I thought that it was just a thin tight mask without the eyes and mouth that I use makeup on. I didn\'t know so much went into it. I guess the ones at DMC are only for display then. Thanks again. So unless you had the exact same head shape as Robert it would have looked pertty goofy, so yeah they were just for display purposes. To do what you\'re talking about properly would probably cost close to $1000 after you\'ve factored in materials, and the hourly rate of the artist. For a 5 minute gag, not really worth it. If this is something you really want to do, your best plan would be to just buy that mask. I Need A Custom Facial Prosthetic Made. - null1 - 05-09-2004 A generic 2 piece prosthetic appliance is not entirely out of the question. I use generic foam latex appliances all the time at Universal. Weather applying \'Who\' noses or our 2 piece Grinch appliances they work out pretty well. However MJ is a different story. That would have to be an exact likeness to really capture his \'character\'. Otherwise ya may just end up looking like a girly girl There are a couple of actors that need thier own Grinch appliances sculpted simply due to the size/proportions of thier face. Other than that our generic pieces work fine. But to make a Grinch, you dont really need to capture the likeness of the actor just a likenes of the green guy You may be able get one of the FX artists over at the monsterlab to hook you up if you can provide them with a life cast of your face. I can probably get one of our guys at Universal to do it but either way your looking at spending some $cash$. You would also need to have this applied. There are specific techniques that need to be followed when applying foam latex appliances. I have done about 250-300 appliance make ups in my time and each one presents a challenge. Good luck in whatever route you decide to take I Need A Custom Facial Prosthetic Made. - SuperDanDrista - 05-09-2004 Obviously transforming your face into michael jackson is not a simple procedure. |
