Just A Question - Last_of_the_Brunnen-G - 01-20-2006 For those of you who make Freddy gloves or have experience with soldering and metal work, I wanted to ask, how do you get the solder to look like it\'s not there, like the part 4 screen caps recently posted in the screen caps thread? Wouldn\'t that make the bond that the blades have on the fingers kind of weak? Just A Question - The13thDreamShape - 01-20-2006 paint over em. Just A Question - Last_of_the_Brunnen-G - 01-20-2006 I know it\'s painted over, but look closely at those caps. It looks like there is very little soldering between the blade and the finger. And in some places, the soldering looks like it is concave rather than bubbling out except on the hero glove. Just A Question - mike - 01-20-2006 some blades are plastic and glued on Just A Question - D-bach - 01-20-2006 i would say they grind off the excess to make it smooth Just A Question - The13thDreamShape - 01-20-2006 or use little solder. i\'ve seen it done Just A Question - adam - 01-20-2006 Sometimes, the gloves have the blade go in between the finger piece, and its mostly soldered on the inside, make sense? Just A Question - HorrorFX - 01-20-2006 Pretty much what golemwalks said. -Chris Just A Question - Jason - 01-20-2006 Probably the screen caps you\'re seeing are of a stunt glove and not a hero glove. The hero glove is the real deal but a stunt glove would have plastic or rubber, or latex blades that have been glued on, therefore no weld. Just A Question - Fredsmidfinger - 01-20-2006 Very carefuly.. I heat up the blade and aply solder to it then I put it on the fingertip run a little and I mean a little flux over were I want the solder to go then I heat the finger up. Works like a charm every time.. |
