Saw These Yesterday And Had To Share...

Was out for some lunch with my wife during the early afternoon yesterday, and as we were leaving the restaurant, what do I see across the street but a pair of old VHS promo standees that some furniture store was using to promote their Halloween-themed sale. I couldn't believe my eyes, lol. Pretty sure these old NOES 2: Freddy's Revenge and Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 standees are fairly rare nowadays. I've seen 'em both go for quite a bit on Ebay a few times. These looked fairly sun-bleached and faded on the colors, but were in overall great shape otherwise. I'm betting the folks running that store have used them for this kind of thing for years and years, without even knowing what they had, lol. Anyway, enjoy... their little sale captions are pretty amusing, too.

That's pretty cool! And yeah I think the Leatherface one is rare, I don't see them to often on ebay.

Yeah man, I really felt a wave of nostalgia wash over me when I spotted them peering out of the window, lol. Seeing these again really took me back to the days of all the local Mom and Pop video stores around here that had this kind of stuff wedged into every corner of the shop.

I also dug around a bit online earlier and came across this scan of an old Fango ad over at the Manchester Morgue blog:



I remembered seeing this advertisement a long time ago. Just look at that killer TCM2 swag! And just $20 for that standee back in the day!

That Freddy's Revenge one is even rarer I think - the one I saw on Ebay back in the late Spring/early Summer went for something insane - like just under $200 or so, if memory serves. Would've loved to have had it, but it got way outta my price range at the time.

It's just so cool to see this kind of stuff out in the wild again - even if the circumstances are sorta bizarre, lol.
