Anyone Have A 47inch Projection Tv?

I recently picked up a 47 inch Panasonic Widescreen projection TV and I am having a hell of a time getting the colors and picture adjusted right. I must be use to the clean, crisp look of my 40 inch flat screen tube. Anyone have any pointers? Is this how all projection TV's look?

I work as a HT installer so maybe I can help ya out. Projection TV's require a darkened room and you need to be sitting directly in front of the screen, about 6 - 8 feet away, for the picture to look it's best.For proper set up I would recommended using this product,<a href=\"http://www.amazon.com/AVIA-Guide-Home-Theater/dp/630551982X/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/002-6255423-9212002?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1174356082&sr=8-1\" target=\"_blank\">http://www.amazon.com/AVIA-Guide-Home-Thea...74356082&sr=8-1</a>You can also use the video set up that comes along with THX certified DVD’s.I use the AVIA set up disc on every install I go on and my customers are always happy with the calibrations I do. If your set is a HD model (all are these days) make sure your using the best connections, RGB, HDMI, DVI, VGA. With HD sets, analog video connections look like poop. RGB and VGA are considered analog but they can carry an HD image. Along with cable connections you need to have a good source, if you have a progressive scanning DVD player make sure the feature is on otherwise your picture will look grainy and washed out.Properly set up rear projection sets can give a great picture, but remember it is projection. CRT displays with always have a brighter and crisper picture compared to LCD type displays. And also, LCD and plasma TV’s have higher resolutions than tube sets, even if the tubes an HD model. With higher resolutions you get more detail, and if the source material is not in HD more flaws will be seen, grain and digital artifacts from cable TV will be more noticeable on these sets.Hope this helps.Jeff-
