The clay i always use to scult is the monster makers clay wed clay. It is hard and you have to heat it up to use. The clay is very hard to work with. What is a good clay that i could use?

O im sorry, yes it was the oil based cla. So using the wed clay and covering it would be a better way to sculpture then. The oil based clay is really hard to work with and i always get real aggravated with it so im going to give the wed a go. Thanks you Sickness.

I use water based clay a lot, i sculpted the snake in it, its faster to use and once you get used to it holds detail pretty well, a trick i use when detailing is to use a hairdryer on a section at a time, dry the clay out, detail then smooth with a small brush and water, works a treat, not tried WED clay though so it may be different

WED clay is an excellent clay to sculpture with. If fact, the name WED is actually named after Walter Elias Disney. The clay formual was developed for disney and used exclusively by the studio for several years. The "secret" component of the WED clay is glycerin, it gives the clay the smooth and creamy texture not found in normal water based-clays.

The oil based clays are a great medium as well, I prefer Chavant NSP Medium which is a Sulphur-Free Plasteline.

Both have thier advantages and disatvantages.

Like Ian was saying with the hair dryer, I opt for the standard butane torch for my heat. I suggest trying to locate a copy of Mark Alfrey\'s sculpting with WED clay video. Well worth the price.

There\'s my two cents on the subject.
