I was never a huge Fred fan, although I really liked the first and third movies. If this one can go back to what the first movie was, then it could be pretty good. There are definitely things that I'd like to see changed with it before they start shooting. I'm a big fan of the Halloween, F13, and TCM remakes, and I have no problem saying I enjoyed the hell out of them. If this is somewhere along the lines of the others, I'll probably like it.

There are some things that you don't change in a franchise. There is a certain formula that you have to stick with and if you stray from that you will end up ruining the movie. It's the reason why Zombie's Halloween sucked, why the TCM remake blew and why the F13 remake was only mediocre.<!--QuoteEnd</div><!--QuoteEEndYes, Englund is Freddy and only he is Freddy. I find it idiotic to remake movies from the 80's. Especially when they could've just as easily done another sequel with Robert instead. He's still in good shape and no one will be able to detect he's any older than he was in the first film when he's covered by a thick layer of burn makeup. A friend of mine told me he overheard someone in the audience when he saw the trailer for the F13 remake say: "Jesus, how many of these are they gonna make?" Which shows what I always suspected. They can claim it's a reboot, remake, reimagination/whatever till their tongues fall of, but to the mainstream audience it's just another sequel. So why not just make it a sequel then? But instead they have to follow this remake trend cause for some reason the idiots in Hollywood think remakes of 80's movies sell better than sequels. I guess they didn't see the box office results for John Rambo or Indy 4.

I say, don't write it off until you see it. Robert apparently has no interest in taking up the role again. Also, the role apparently has few speaking lines so while we're only familiar with Robert's Freddy, the TRUE Freddy to me is the one from Part 1. Dark, evil, and not really a wisecrack and isn't prone to long conversations with his victims. Freddy should STAY that way and the creators of the sequels ruined him. I absolutely HATED the sequels (except New Nightmare) and Robert was just along for the ugly ride. Freddy needs a reboot and a return to the truly evil creep he should have remained. I enjoyed Platinum Dunes' portrayal of Jason and I have complete confidence in their ability to take on these iconic characters. Just my opinion.

Platinum Dunes can put out some great films sometimes, I really enjoyed the remake of TCM, F13 remake was okay, kind of a let down although Jason looked pretty cool...I think the reason they are remaking films from the 80's is because they have a chance to be good fun and somewhat scary again and after the last freddy film and F vs J there really isnt anywhere to go imo, so that is why they are rebooting the franchise to try to make a better Freddy than all the sequels even though I thought Freddy was the best in the first and New Nightmare. Seriously who cares what the mainstream audience thinks, they think Freddy is Jason and Michael is both of them so they don't know (My mommy is going to wash my mouth out with soap!) because they just want to watch movies like Twilight and (My mommy is going to wash my mouth out with soap!) like that
