Or maybe the filmmakers really didn\'t give a crap about continuity and just went with what they thought looked cool. They probably kept the axe mark because they figured that was enough to carry on the continuity between films to satisfy the fans.

Besides, lets face it, there are plot holes ALL OVER the place with these films, so studying how and why the mask looks that way is kind of futile. I mean, it\'s certainly fun to come up with the theories, but at the end of the day, each filmmaker created what they wanted for each movie, without caring too much how it fit with the others. That\'s kind of what I like about each film...they stand on their own, but are also held (albeit loosely) together.

As far as the part 4 mask not having triangles, it did...but they came off like Mike said. It\'s the same mask from part 3 but throughout filming the triangles wore off.

If you watch \'Scream Great\'s Tom Savini\' it shows some behind the scenes from \'Friday the 13th, the Final Chapter.\' It shows that they were spraying down the mask with water and you can see the red stickers, that\'s what they are, coming off. The red markings were NOT painted on.
