I finally found a movie that\'s scary and horrifying. Imprint by Takashi Miike. The only movie so far that was horrifying, disgusting, yet I couldn\'t look away. I don\'t want to give too much away, but we\'re talking sh*t like dead babies tossed into rivers and tossed against rocks, a torture scene that was actually stomach churning and didn\'t seem like it was ever going to end. Good gore, good effects pretty decent if somewhat simple story, with a really bizarre twist at the end.
Basically an American traveler is searching for a whore named Komomo who\'s the love of his love. He travels to this island that\'s full of whores, rents one for the night, and then the whore he rents basically becomes the narrator of some really twisted tales.
It\'s definitely a really bizarre and somewhat sickening movie that will actually make you feel uncomfortable at times just watching it, wondering, "when\'s he gonna edit? when will this scene be over?"
Wes Craven once said, "in order to make a movie truly horrifying, you\'ve got to make them afraid of you, the director. Make them go, \'what kind of sick individual would make a film like this?\' "
well if that\'s the case, then Takashi Miike in my opinion is the future of horror. I liked Audition, and I liked Ichi the Killer. But IMPRINT blows both of them away. This is finally an actual HORROR movie!!
so everyone run out and watch it.
