After I got the Jason figure from Mezco, and was as impressed as I was, I had to pick up Leatherface naturally, and I've very pleased to say I'm just as impressed if not more! Mezco has REALLY done a fantastic job with this line (Cinema Of Fear) Their style is just slightly different from the ultra realistic McFarlane and NECA aproach to such figures, Mezco takes a very slightly exagerated, almost comicized version of the characters. The detail, and realism is still there, but there's also a very nice blend of style ontop I really appreaciate. The figure is fantastic sculpture wise, they capture the elements of good ole Bubba quite nicely, proportions wise, his stance is slightly squat which is fitting and works well with the articulation. This guy is definitely NOT a McStatue, he has some great mobility, and can achiev several great poses and looks, you're gonna wanna play with him! Which is a real nice albeit rare thing if you're used to McFarlane, and NECA figures, that are pretty much pre-posed. He's got a huge 12 points of articulation, and all of it is useful. The only downside to some, you do see the joints on the figure, with the slightly stylized execution though, it doesn't hurt the overall look at all. The detail work on Bubba is extreamly nice, someone at Mezco is a HUGE fan of TCM, and added some things we haven't seen before. One of the key elements for us mask dorks, he has the mouth bars in the killing mask! That surprised the hell out of me when I saw it, huge kudos to Mezco for that. Another pretty much ignored and missed part of the Leatherface costume, is the bracelet made of teeth, and again Mezco came through, slightly lacking of detail though, unless you know it's teeth, you'd assume it was just a white bracelet, points still for including it at all.The paint work on him is almost as flawless as you can hope for, especially when you compair to McFarlane Toy's as of late. The only bit of slop I can find is on the teeth bracelet, and a tiny bit on the stitching around the killing mask, but for a mass produced figure, you're not going to get much better. The tones on him are all very nice, and again go towards the slightly comic book feel of him, but are still on the realistic side aswell. The reason I had to pick this figure up though, that NO other Leatherface figure has, the Old Woman mask! Finally! We got the Pretty Woman mask a couple years ago from NECA, we're inindated with the Killing Mask, but no Old Woman, until now. And what's best, it's an accessory, and the only thing cooler then that, is the fact Mezco had the thought to also include the apron that goes with the Old Woman mask! They did it as an interchangeable head, the Killing Mask head pops off, and the Old Woman pops on, very easy to do and no worry you're gonna break something. The apron has a knob and hole closure on the side tie, and the neck ties slip into spots in the collar of his shirt, couldn't be simpler or more ingenious! Both head sculps are fantastic as well, the Killing Mask is as close as I've seen on this scale, and looks great from every angle. The Old Woman is just as good, perfect sculpture, and looks excelent! The only gripe I could make, is the neck of the mask is in such a way that it does limit the neck articulation slightly. Both heads the masks are sculpted seperatly, so there is depth to them, and you can see his eyes, and mouth underneith. They aren't meant to be removeable, but curiosity got t he better of me and I had to see if they would come lose. I wasn't disapointed either, with just a little force they popped off pretty easy, and underneith was not only a sculpted, but painted face! If you ever read the Jason Vs. Leatherface comics from Top Cow, you'll place the design, which tells me again, one of us works at Mezco! You wouldn't want to display him without the mask, since there is a ridge line around, where the mask sits in, but still a cool little detail! He also comes with the saw, obviously, and the hammer. Both have never been done this good. The saw you can identify right away as the Poulan, and all everything is in the right place, except oddly enough the pull cord. Which did make me go 'hunh' However, still the best chainsaw I've seen at this scale. The hammer too is a fantastic job! Finally the correct handle length! That always bugged me with other figures, but finally we have the right black smithing hammer head, and the longer handle. All in all I couldn't be happier with this guy, well worth the price, and I will definitely be buying a lot more from Mezco in the future! Series 2 should be out soon, and offers Leatherface from part 2, which is a must have! Jason from part 6, and Freddy from part 1, and a Nancy Thompson bath tub set. Can't wait!If you actually took the time to read all that thank you for not making me waste my time and effort ; If you read all that, you're also interested in the figures, and I can't recomed them more! if you just came for the pics, go to hell ya bastard!! but I will deliver there too!
