Quote:or has anyone else had the experience of bidding on something on eBay that noone has had any interest in before on auctions for the same item or items just like it until you bid on it, then the price just keeps going up and up?  Whats worse is I\'m being outbid by someone with 0 feedback.

Thats why I usually only use "buy it now" or if it doesn\'t have that option I\'ll just enter a max bid and leave it at that, if I win, I win, but if not, I wasn\'t willing to pay that much anyway.

Sure this is a decent method. However, it seems that some collectors are not interested in an item unless others show interest by placing a bid. I\'m actually guilty of this myself. For instance, say I see a Frankenstein mask on eBay but I know I don\'t really have to get it... but as soon as I see that there are a couple of bids on it, I may just place a bid for the fun of the game to outbid the other guys. I also see that the mask is appealing to other collectors out there. The best way to go about an auction is to set your highest bid in a snipe or manually snipe at the last 20 seconds of an auction. This way your chances are higher of actually winning the item. Also... if you have to ask yourself do I really want this mask multiple times, its best not to bid b/c you\'ll find yourself selling it within no time. Which I am also guilty of on multiple occassions.

You\'re right on that. I cant tell you how many times Ive won an auction and immediatly I think, "ah shit, now i gotta pay for this, i dont really want it". I hate getting caught up in the competition.

Alright I freely admit to sometimes waiting until there are about 20-30 seconds left in an auction and then entering a massive max bid.
But\'s whats worse is when after I\'ve won, I have to look and see who was trying to outbid me at the end, when they had no chance. It\'s a sick, sick thing, I need help... B)

I was bidding on this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...Item=7211577803 I really just want the straps and metal buckles off of it.

Yeah, it is an odd-looking mask for sure. I just want the straps like I said. It will be going to a good cause.
