Quote:I don\'t mean to argue but the part where he takes the machete out is basically part of the part 2 flashback, not the part 3 movie. He is in the overalls in his perv-shack/altar still from part 2. I wouldn\'t doubt if this footage was from the part shoot since they pretty much new they would make sequels indefinately.

There is the problem, see, Steve Miner directed both Part 2 and 3, and he shot the machete removal scene while filming Part 3, to show continuity. According to his interview, he states that Part 3 takes place the next evening after the events of Part 2. He admits to fouling up the whole Chris backstory where-in we see Jason wearing the current clothes he has on in the film.

If you\'re really looking for a way around this giant plot hole, you could say that this is just a rendition of what happened for the audience, and not exactly the same way it actually happened to Chris. She\'s only telling her memory of the incident to her boyfriend, she never descibes his clothes or anything. Just that he\'s hideously disfigured.

I believe the interview was on FridayFilms13.com if it still exists. I read this back in 2001, it\'s hard to say if it\'s still around. You could check for this interview on other sites though.

The whole bitch about the bad continuity is that 2 and 3 had same director?!? It would have been so easy. Any ways, I still think its not unreasonalbe to think the whole part 2-4 time corridor is a week. There is nothing ruling that out, nothing any more solid than the rest of the bad continuity at least.

My personal theory Blush on the different looks between 2 and 3/4 is of course different make-up techs, but since 2 and 3 have the same director it must be deeper than that (again, fanboy wishes here). I figure when Ginny takes off the hood he is laying with his left check down. She doesn\'t see any of the left side of his face/head at all, and she only takes a 1-2 second look before being pulled away. Then in her "dream ending" her fantasy of Jason fills in the part of his head/face she didn\'t see with the crazy hair/beard. The hair and beard is really restricted to the one side, the "unknown" side. She just had her own paranoid vision of what this wild bushman looks like completely....like a retarded, deformed lumberjack.

I just really think if a "prequel" is going to be done, and let\'s face these are very weak rumors, that this is the way to go. Don\'t re-write history. and build on its strengths and established lore. Lets see Jason recovering mom\'s head, lets see more of his perv shack, lets see him eating wild animals, lets see Crystal Lake again dammit! Oh and NLC if your going to have momma flashbacks, open your wallet...pull out some of the $50,000,000 you made of FVSJ and bring in Betsy Palmer for chrissakes!

    Sorry, my rant is over.

P.S. Bring back a former Jason too Smile

Thats a great take on difference in Jason\'s appearence between 2 and 3, not to mention it would be pretty dim lit when she saw him anyway. Supposedly, Jason has little hair strands in part 3, but I\'ve never seen them, but that could explain why she imagined all the hair as well. Jason is suppose to have that no hair condition that I can\'t think of the name... But anyway, I still think 2 is one night, 3 is the next, and 4 the night after that. But you had some good points there as well. I wish there were discussions like this here a lot more often!
As far as a Jason prequel, I hope Jason goes back to running! When he was most terrifying!

It would be nice to have a human Jason again (able to run, get hurt, etc.), not just another indestructable super strength zombie.

I have to say you are WAY over thinking ANY of these theorys. Friday the 13th flicks were made as quick and easy films to gross some decent cash off of teenagers. Continuity was never even put into consideration in these films, and if a director says he had it in mind it is simply to save face on his part. I think the only thing really put into consideration as far as continuity was Savini in part 1 and part 4 trying to make the apperance similar.

The only thing I have to add to the "nightmare" part 2 ending is the fact that he clearly still had the machete lodged in his shoulder at the end of part 2 when he crashed through the window. In the very beginning of part 3 he clearly removed it before crawling away. If someone has already mentioned this I apologize. I went blind reading all of the posts.
