I just need a few tips on how to fray a VS jacket. The one I get from Mega will be unweathered, so I just need a few tips on how to fray the edges and tear them up a bit to make it look more like the film jacket (without having to put it in the washer or anything).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. This thread doesn\'t have to stay here forever as I know that too many threads are being started asking for advice on making jackets, painting masks, etc.

put the end you want frayed on top of a big rock or concrete surface you don;t mind destroying, then take a sledge hammer and smash the living sh*t out of the part of the coat you want frayed. smush and destroy the fibers that make up the burlap. This will weaken the area you want frayed, then cut, burn or rip the parts off that should be already falling off anyhow, then fuse it so it doesn\'t rip of fray any further.

OR what I did what just cut it to shit... and washed it about 30 times... it frayed like mad... and then had a worn in look to it too!

Gary\'s method works real well, I used the same deal to weather some clothes a while ago. I took them out into my back alley, threw them done on the gravel and beat the hell out of them with a baseball bat. The rips and tears looked great, didn\'t have to do a whole lot more to them.
