Just saw it yesterday with my buddy Jeff.
I guess I should have seen it on opening night, because it wasn\'t as \'sick\' as I heard it was. WAYYYY too hyped up IMO.I definetely think that it could have been done a lot better.
I agree with another poster on this thread, in that I think there was TOO much T&A, and not a lot of gore. Don\'t get me wrong, I like T&A, but I think that it took Roth a little TOO long to let the audience in on what was going on. I don\'t mind watching a flick and wondering what the hell is going on, but when over an hour goes by, and you\'re still trying to figure out what\'s happening and why, it gets frustrating.
The basic storyline, (when it was finally revealed) was a good one. It showed how sick and screwed up humanity has become. But it WASN\'T original. Remember HARD TARGET with Jean-Claude? Same idea, just a tad more sick and warped. The way the story was told was a little un-even. You kept waiting for the shit to hit the fan, and then it wouldn\'t. And of course, when it DID, it didn\'t blow me outta my seat. I wanted to see to all of this \'graphic, explicit gore\' that I kept hearing about. But never got to. 1 guy gets messed up pretty bad, you don\'t even SEE the French guy get it. Probably the best part is the scene with that poor Asian girl and the eyeball \'gag\'. HOUSE OF WAX was gorier for God\'s sake!
Anyhow, this of course is only MY opinion. I just didn\'t think that it was all that great. I\'m still waiting for Eli Roth to come out with a kick-ass horror flick. Although this was better than CABIN FEVER, which was complete shit. I still contend that SAW is probably the best \'mind fuck\' movie that I\'ve seen in a LOOOOONG time. Great story, great ending. That and of course DEVIL\'S REJECTS. Next up for me is THE HILLS HAVE EYES. Looking forward to it.
