I take the clay and break it up into small pieces, put the pieces into the pot. I set the hotplate to around 175 degrees. As the clay melts I stir it some. It takes me about 15min to melt a 2lbs block of clay.You can use a stove also, and the microwave works pretty good too. Just watch the heat, because you can burn clay.Jeff-
