"Best Villain"To me, the fact that Derek didn't have to do facial expressions, or speak, didn't make him less of a villain. Now, if Derek didn't actually convey anything it'd be different, but a mindless drone he is not. Should he have spoken, or ripped off the mask and had a huge "you look like my mommy and now I'm confused" scene? He did what he could with what he had. I had a hard time imagining any of the other Jasons doing a better job under the character direction Derek was getting... I couldn't see any of them doing that quite as well as he did. Overall, I was impressed.. He made Jason scary again, or at least scarier than any previous Jason had been, in my opinion.Ledger.. yup, it's sad what happened, etc, but was his character a better villain? Seemed a bit like a drunk Jack Sparrow.. It worked, to be sure, and it's a good movie and all that, but I bet he played it no better than Johnny Depp would have. I think he's had his share of post-humous awards already.. I think it's a shame that many folks will pick him because of what happened to the actor... it was good acting, (which was pretty much a first for Ledger IMHO), and he apparently connected well with the character, but publicity-wise, it was much better timing, and had he not died, I wonder how strong the memory would be. Kinda' like "A Knight's Tale" put him on the map with all kinds of fake swelling praise for him before the film came out, all due to Sony's faked review system which they got in-trouble for.
