SPOILERS: I woke up this morning thinking - ok the 10/10 film I want exists in the footage and editing room. I really think had they eliminated just a few things in order to flesh out a few existing things it could be VERY good. Here are my next day eliminate and flesh out list items:ELIMINATE: - Some of the lighting on Freddy's face and just leave him in the dark. Less is more, especially when more = CGI.- The several times too many that the parents are in the film. The acting on the parents part was not great and we don't need a half dozen shots wasted on wooden glances between them.- Freddy's amount of dialogue, especially at the end, again, less is more, him screaming at Nancy "you did this to me" or explaining to here what's going on is too much. I liked the creepy, "You smell different", grunts and laughing - it's terrifying actually.- Lastly - the ending, UGH. Ok bring him out - and burn him, I liked that - but the cutting off of his hand and near decapitation is WAY too much. How bout you knock him to the floor and burn him alive. LOVE that. The CGI on the very last scene where he attacks Nancy's mother - it would have been so much better if he had just been a reflection in the mirror behind her mother and Nancy was left screaming - the glove through her CGI eyes - again too muchWith these eliminations hopefully the below could be salvaged from existing footage:FLESH OUT:- every kill scene: The first one, have him wander around in the kitchen longer with Freddy looming. Show more gross pig stuff. The actually kill was great. Kris's - give her more time to mourn her dog or just take it in. Something about this scene is really horrifying. A dead pet - maybe add some whimpering sounds and then for her actual death - when she's being thrown around - add some blood (even if it's CGI) with every hit. The kill was great but really lacking in the blood all over the walls. The sound of bones breaking too perhaps. The boyfriends kill - I don't know - I wasn't a fan of the actor here or how quickly it all happened, maybe just draw out the hunt a bit. Nancy's final hunt - was great. I'd actually get rid of the face reveal in the closet and just make it a vocal "found you" - keeping her pinned down on the bed was great - very uncomfortable to watch. Less talking would have been even more so - more breathing and twisted sounds of enjoyment would amp it up big time. This is a really good movie and I really think it's got a ton of DVD potential - I'm going to see it again this afternoon. Right now I'm with most everyone else that's posted - the good is about as good as the bad, it's an even split for me as of this moment.
