I've had a my dojo open for 15 yrs teaching kung fu, kempo karate and jujutsu. Pepito and Bornonfire posts on the arts are correct. The terms are usued losely in asia. Karate started in China moving through Okinawa into japan. Kempo karate (which is the most popular style in japan) main foundation is kung fu based.
