Well, you can kind of animate in Photoshop...the newer versions come with ImageReady (kind of like Macromedia\'s Fireworks) in which you can make animated .gifs.
If you really want to get into animation, go straight to Flash MX 2004. That\'s the best. If you want to dabble in 3D, get Swift3D...relatively easy to use and integrates well with Flash. Poser is great too...but is mostly for working with figures. You can do some great stuff with it by editing the bump maps and things like that. You can even inport those animations into other great 3D apps like 3D Studio Max, etc. Another great 3D app is Cinema 4D XL.
