Went to see this last week - by far the best remake film I've seen yet. Perhaps Hollywood should stick to making remakes of classic 80's family films rather than cult horror classics... Can't wait for Top Gun to come out now!

They should stop remaking films of any genre. Come up with original ideas instead of dragging classics of yesteryear into the mud.

    I agree,

Did they think they were gonna top the original? they should leave the classics alone. They can start by dumping all the over digitaling of everything, and go back to latex, and puppets. that had a large part in the awesome 80's movies.

This kicked the originals hiney (excuse the pun).

Bringing films up to date is not a bad thing, so long as its done well. This has a good cast, some good acting and its very watchable. I enjoyed it. I wish people would get their heads out of their arses and actually comment on whether they enjoy a movie, rather than waste their lives bashing something just because its not an original idea. NEWSFLASH: There are no original ideas, they've all been done before in some form or another!

That's not news, that's an opinion. Maybe you aren't able to think of original movie plots but I am sure there are plenty of other people out there who are.

What a narrow minded comment.."bringing them up to date"...Why bring any movie in the past up to date?.They are fine just as they are on there own from the time they were made and still are...This whole "trend" in hollywood of remaking is getting to be the biggest joke the industry has ever witnessed!!!Even Edward d Wood Jr. made original movies as crappy as they were they were ORIGINAL and nobody could take that from him..NOBODY...so now we are in 2010 and nobody in hollywood has any fresh ideas..I do agree that most ideas if not all stem from what has come before but I hear it all the time that when a movie is done so well it can be a totally different experience than the original.....I haven't experienced this yet but for one movie and that was The Wolfman..but that one was a TOTALLY different movie anyway and only certain names were the same.Hollywood as it was has been dead for decades.

It is very different. Its a good film, good acting, well made and doesn't rely on loads of cgi to mak it better. Good fun, and the kids loved it
