Figured since the cat is out of the bag officially I'd try and make an official thread so it isn't all scattered across the board. **SPOILERS POSSIBLE**I checked it out at the 12:01 am. I can't say I was overly impressed but I can say it's about what I expected. I think, despite the comedy in it, it did take the franchise back to its roots of being dark which is Nispel's style anyways. As I'd read in reviews, the kills weren't all that original but at least 2 that come to mind were innovative for sure. As far as Derek goes as Jason, I give him an A+. As far as the movie goes overall I give it a 7/10. I don't like to think of it so much a remake as it was a re-imagining. King Kong (by Peter Jackson) was a remake. There's different angles you can take with the Jason character as Damian Shannon, Mark Swift, Marcus Nispel, and especially Derek did with the character of Jason himself in regards to his actions, his intellect, his mannerisms, etc. As far as the story goes I like where it "ended". Otherwise it was your typical storyline with darker style cinematograhpy.
