I absolutely love the more realistic look. Yes, Robert's version is classic but I prefer more realism for Freddy. The more realistic you make him, the more believable he becomes. I never did like the "funny" Freddy. I always wanted Freddy to remain scary so I am superbly glad to see them taking him back to his roots. Only time will tell but I want a more brutal Freddy this time around. No more goofiness.

The Englund version for sure. He's maybe not entirely realistic looking but he looked creepy and fiendish. Unlike Platinum Dunce Freddy who looks like a fish hybrid and sounds like a hillbilly. And a completely realistic look doesn't really seem that necessary for someone who kills people in their dreams.

Either version of Freddy looks creepy no doubt.

This is a stylized makeup. Freddy has a certain look and character and for me Robert embodied both. Will be seeing the remake, however, and will give it a fair shake....

I'm surprised people don't open up a bit more to the new look. The new look is actually closer to the look that Wes Craven original envisioned for Freddy. But the limitations of makeup back then didn't allow them to accomplish the task. So, the fact of the matter is that the new Freddy is actually similar to what Freddy was supposed to look like all along. Imagine the situation in reverse. Imagine Freddy originally looking like the JEH version and the Remake is what introduced the stylized look... we'd be crapping our pants over how he doesn't really look burned. And some people say he looks like a fish? Ever seen a REAL burn victim before? That's what Freddy is... a victim of a fiery death.

There may have been limitations to the makeup but Kevin Yagher was responsible for the look and it doesn't get any better than that.Don't think anyone wants to see a real burn victim on screen. And, yes, I have seen a few in person....

Kevin Yagher's make-up is the best, it's the main reason why I fell in love with Freddy when I was a child. The new Freddy's face is an insult for me and for the Robert's version. When I saw the new look for first time, I couldn't believe, is like a monkey.Other thing is how the Freddy's costume is, that I think that it's okay, or how will be the movie.Respet the funny Freddy, is a matter of personal taste and I respect the people that doesn't like.
