I heard this on the radio and thought it was pretty funny.
Before taking over vocals and songwriting for the band Kansas, then keyboardest Kerry Livgren was reunited with his estranged father. He never visited his father much as he was an avid and somewhat obsessive horror movie fan. Kerry himself was averse to horror. He professed to find nothing interesting in the genre.
While recording the album Leftoverture, Kerry was having trouble coming up with a strong single release for the album. One day during recording, Kerry decided to visit his father. Upon arrival at his father\'s house, Kerry saw the front door standing wide open. Approaching the house, he heard sounds of panic and screaming. Dashing into the house, Kerry found no sign of his father, but did find the tv blaring. On the screen, Kerry saw the image of a young girl who seemed to be covered in blood standing amidst a scene of fire and slaughter. He quickly turned off the tv and called for his father. When Kerry\'s father emerged from the bathroom, he looked to the tv, and then to his son. he asked "What\'s all this? Why\'d you turn off the tv?" To which Kerry replied, "Well, I couldn\'t find you. Besides, what was on didnt look like a very pleasant program"
His father then said...
"But, wasn\'t Carrie on, my wayward son?"
